“I think I am going to have a heart-attack!”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Oh Man! If you have the smallest inkling to clog your arteries or cave in to some "bad for you" food, here you go! This is the King of the Late Night- regret it tomorrow restaurants!
Disclaimer- the best time to go to Tommy's is either after a football game or when you have been out all night drinking and you have the misguided notion that chili, be it on fries, be it on a hamburger, be it on the floor of your friend's car will be the remedy to all the alcohol you spent the night putting away.
Just be sure to grab some Tums at that 24 hour pharmacy on your way home... just to be on the safe side.

“Once was enough”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

I went here years ago, and the big thing seems for young people to go around midnight. The line is around the block. However, they crank the burgers out. It is a messy handful. The chili is not overly chunky and I don't understand mustard on chili. So, if you have always heard about the Tommy's experience make sure you are at the true Original Tommy's. No real places to sit down. They don't want people loitering. Be prepared to stand up at the bar around the sides.

“Come eat at the Shack!”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

There are lots of great burger places in LA and Tommy's is one of them. If you really don't like chili burgers at all, don't go, but if you love chili burgers or are chili burger curious, go. The prices are excellent. The food is great. I typically order a chili burger, fries, and a drink. There is always an excess of chili on the burger. Use the fries to scrape off the excess chili to make the chile burger a little more manageable and to get some chile fries without ordering chili fries. It's a win-win.

Don't get Tommy's to go. This is not food you should attempt to eat inside a vehicle. I've been to other locations, but I like the original shack best. It is busy almost all the time. There are plenty of counters to stand at eat at. Go. If it is midnight, still go. If your choices are trying Tommy's or not trying Tommy's, you should try Tommy's. Unless you really don't like chili.

“Best hamburger spot in LA”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

With all the specialty hamburger joints opening in LA its easy to get distracted. By far the best and one of THE original food landmarks is Tommy's. There's a reason why you see so many knock-off's ("Tom's #1", "Tomies", etc). This is not for the health conscious or those that don't like chili - a Tommy's burger without chili is a sad day. In fact, ask for extra chili, they lop it on for free!

You haven't done an LA hamburger until you've gone to Tommy's!

“inn n out is better”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

the burger was good but in n out is just a little bit better, I am sure some may disagree. I also think in n out is healthier. As far as five guys burgers goes, they are not even in the same league, they are overpriced by twice the price.
