after watching man v food, and travelling all the way from uk i wanted to check out this sandwich
i ordered one double dip beef and ate it back at the hotel...after an hour

WOW the juice was delicious, and with it being a decent size sandwich (compared to uk) it was still light, although slightly cold i could've easily eaten two!!!

few days later, i went back again!! i ordered the same double dip beef and a pork

pork was however disappointing...the pork actually tasted dry!!!

overall it was worth coming here just for the beef!!

queue was nice and short as well...i came approx 5pm

Everyone raves about this place. It's very handy for train travelers. You get a lot of food for 10 bucks!

Great place to grab a suberb sandwich ini LA. One of Charles Bukowski's favorite places when he was working at the post office across the street.

We decided to take a group here on a Tuesday night. Once we arrived via the freeway, we found ample free parking around back.

Inside, you'll notice a place that hasn't changed much. Seating is a bunch of benches where you sit and share with the masses. No reservations accepted here and none required.

It's worth noting that this place is CASH ONLY. Do not bring a credit card to pay. It ain't happening. They have several ATMs inside if you want cash but I'd plan ahead (lower fees)

You stand at the counter and they prep your meal and serve it. It's nothing fancy.

The Beef was delicious. I prefer the "double dip". Our cohorts tried the lamb which was tasty as well.

In addition, they have beer, wine, side dishes like chips, cole slaw & macaroni salad. The Macaroni salad is outstanding and a choice item.

The sandwich is served multiple ways (Dry - dip on the side, wet - dipped, or double dipped). The latter is my preference. On the table you can add "hot mustard" which is fairly powerful. It has tons of horseradish in it.

If you want non-alcoholic drinks, they have tea ($.85); Lemonade ($.95) or Sods at $1.25 with no free refills.

An unforgettable experience for <$10.

Love the throwback to early Los Angeles. No pretenses here. Rich and poor and middle class all eat together for the food, not the glitz. Easy walking distance from downtown, Union Station and Chinatown.
