The Water Grill has long been established as one of Los Angeles' finest restaurants. Specializing in fresh seafood including an oyster bar and Maine lobster. The food is first rate. The service is excellent. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced. The room is large, well lit and comfortable. Tables and booths are well enough spaced so that private conversations can take place. It is a particularly enjoyable experience. This is not precious gourmet cooking but rather well prepared food in a fine setting.

Was here with a large group while on business travel. Service was good. Extremely noisy and hard to have a conversation. Was expecting more from the food based on the reviews and prices; it was good but did not really impress. Salad course pretty pedestrian. For entrees, diners in our group had ocean trout, swordfish, chicken and filet. They did handle our large group well and did not blanch at bringing us separate checks.

The food at this restaurant is excellent. Fresh fish and creative dishes. Chilean sea bass prepared perfectly. Service is on point as expected for a restaurant of this stature. I do think it is a bit more on the pricy side however. Definitely worth an excellent seafood meal in downtown LA.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Water Grill! The entrance / facade is very low key, but the interior is busy and warm. The lighting is soft, tables far enough apart that privacy is assured and the bustling, white aproned waiters let you know important stuff is going on!

The menu is obviously rich with fresh seafood choices, although various steak and veal dishes are available. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and also very enthusiastic about the choices on the menu. I was non-plused with his enthusiasm for fresh Maine Lobster, but that was only because I had just arrived in LA from my home in New Hampshire. We have Maine Lobster without much fuss!

Our choices were terrific - nicely presented, very tasty, perfectly cooked (save for the raw oysters, of course!) I only regretted that we didn't have room to sample some of the very tempting desserts.

This is a good choice! I'm ready to make return reservations!

This was our third visit to Water Grill over the past several years. We walked the short, almost one miile downhill distance after seeing a matinee show at the Ahmanson. We were seated in a very cozy booth with a view of the street in front. The service was fantastic! He asked if we had theater tickets so that enough time could be allowed for service. We did not feel rushed or pressured to eat quickly. The food was great! I had the dover sole, which was a bit pricey at $44 a pound, but prepared perfectly! My husband had the mahi mahi and said it too was terrific. We enjoyed a reasonably priced bottle of Conundrum white wine and shared a delicious, warm bread pudding for dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a pre- or post-theater dining treat!
