Nice French bakery with organic and fresh produce. The food was tasty, the staff were friendly but the service was slightly on the slow side.

The ccoffee was fantastic; exquisite flavour, beautiful aroma, and just the right temperature for drinking.

Worth checking out.

The bakery here looks wonderful, and we were told that the breads are excellent. However, our breakfast here was below average - one person enjoyed their omelet; one person sent back their "Belgian Waffle" (a dense, doughy, highly sugar-laden concoction the size of a croissant) and replaced it with a chicken & melted cheese and mushroom tartine which needed seasoning; another reluctantly ate their "French Toast", which was dry and tasteless. Since they do not serve syrups here, the waitress suggested a side order of fresh fruit to add moisture to the latter dish, which looked beautiful and was also tasteless! Even the Cafe Au Lait was bland!! Apparently, the management is so rigid that they will refuse a customer request to warm-up a croissant. And, the prices are much too high.

Le Pain Quotidien success as a big French style bakery chain is also its downfall. The quality of the products offered is clearly below average with the exception of some breads. The croissants are mediocre and the coffees too blend. It is not a traditional French bakery. Rather a personal interpretation of it based on certain specific select items such as bread, pastries and "farm" dishes. Yet its products preparation lacks the French know how and fall short of meeting my expectation of experiencing a good and consistent French breakfast or lunch. I do not recommend this establishment.

Specifically referring to the location on Ventura in Encino. This place is an absolute and total rip off. $40.00 side dishes of vegetables (deemed 8 servings), rude service, clueless managers, REALLY bad.

We happened upon this place by chance while looking for a quick breakfast. It wasn't super quick, but the food was very good, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I enjoyed the selection of organic, local food. I had an omelette and my husband had one of their oatmeal specials, and both were delicious. Service was a little slow, but I would definitely go back to this place if I'm back in the area.
