“What? No Fried Chicken?”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

After reading the favorable reviews about the delicious friend chicken my wife and I were disappointed to find that is has been removed from the daily menu and now only served on Sunday and Monday. Darn. Our waiter said the dish was too popular and the kitchen deep friers could not handle the demand with some diners having to wait 90 minutes for their meals. We got the rotisserie chicken instead and were pleased so that was good but my craving for buttermilk batter fried chicken will have to be met elsewhere.

“A promising beginning -will go back.”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

A group of us had dinner at the Parish this week. There’s plenty of parking across the street in lots. The place it self is long and narrow, with 2 stories. The menu is a bit eclectic, with several small plates and some larger meals. Our server, Emily, provided excellent, unobtrusive service. She knew the menu well, and was very attentive. The beer selection was nice – something for everyone. So, here’s a rundown of what we ate:
Stout Grilled Sausage with Parsnip Mash – the sausage comes out in a burger shape, atop the mash...Very good. The pickled cherries definitely woke me up...whew!
Fried Chicken – nice and crunchy, perfectly cooked, but very bland – needed salt and some spice. At $21, overpriced.
Poutine with Crunchy Pork Shoulder – This was just ok. The sauce was a little thin, and the pork was kind of dry; there also wasn’t much of it.
Smoked Tomato Soup – pronounced “delicious”
Butter Lettuce – pretty and good-sized salad with a light creamy dressing (maybe buttermilk(?)), and a sprinkle of some kind of bleu cheese. Very nice and not the least bit heavy. Will we go back? Definitely – there are more items I’d like to try (e.g., there were no frogs’ legs that night), and the service was so good.

“Great find”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We stumbled upon this place not knowing that it was only their 2nd night of dinner service. What a happy accident! This gastropub has a second-floor bar/restaurant area with a hip and trendy vibe (expert mixologist on hand) and inventive cuisine. The buttermilk fried chicken was freshly battered, crispy and the meat was tender. The arugula, pickled carrots and epoisse on the burger made for an interesting flavor combination that was very enjoyable. The burger was very juicy and the bread was fresh and grilled. My only wish was that the burger had been served with fries or a side salad. The flavors were very strong, so it would have been nice to have something to accompany it. I'm personally not a toffee fan, but my husband enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The great meal was topped off by excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Our server Johnny was very friendly and knowledgable about their menu offerings. Kudos to them!
