Overrated.Extremely overrated. It is an average hotel without an elevator or bellboys.
Yes,it's clean and well located but sleep quality is very very poor in some rooms as you hear traffic noise from fairfax avenue.

We stayed here when a family member was in a reality show at nearby CBS. It was very convenient to the farmer's market and the Grove shopping, and very comfortable and quiet. The staff was great and we will do it again.

It was a nice little hotel with a beautiful little outdoor sitting area. The people were very nice and helped with whatever we needed. The breakfast was lovely and enjoyable. It was a wonderful location and a great stay!

Nice small hotel in a good neighborhood location. The room had a king sized bed that was very comfortable. The room had a small table with two chairs but it would have been nice to have a comfortable lounge type chair to sit in to read or watch television. Overall the room was very good including the shower / bathroom.
The free breakfast was just alright but no big deal. The hotel looks like it could use some minor repairs such as painting interior trim work and exterior trim.
Our real complaint was from a customer service standpoint was when we requested a taxi. The front desk staff person called and the taxi arrived in a timely manor. The driver came to the front desk at which time my wife noticed the driver gave the staff member a few rolled up dollar bills for the referral. The horrible part was the taxi was awful! We were enclosed in the back seat of what appeared to be a old Ford Crown Vic police car with a divider. We were unable to place our feet flat on the floor and the cab was a rolling oven! No air in the passenger area and we felt as if we would faint! It was terrible. It is our opinion the hotel should have certain standards in regard to their taxi company referrals for their guests especially after receiving a referral fee! Not good.
I hope this review assisted but make sure you ask for a room with a lounge type chair (not sure if they have it) and call for a taxi yourself that has adequate passenger comfort and air conditioning!

Room Tip: ask for a second story room in the back of the hotel.

My mom and I so enjoyed our brief stay at the Wilshire Crest in June. From the moment we entered the lobby, we found it to be a refreshing change from the feel of a big corporate hotel. While it's an older hotel, it's been remodeled with taste and class. We were greeted warmly, and check-in was easy. We were given an actual KEY to our room, and enjoyed a brief walk through the charming modern Asian ambiance of the large lobby and then a rather narrow (by modern standards) hall to our room which was really spacious, with a modern decor. Also, while the Wilshire Crest is snuggled onto a neighborhood corner, it's only a few blocks from restaurants and shopping at The Farmer's Market and The Grove. The friendly desk clerk gave us directions and we had a nice walk over for dinner that night.

My daughter and I stayed here for a week of vacation. We loved the Wilshire Crest. Typically one can't find a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of attractions but this place is just blocks away from museums, the Grove, the Farmers Market -- plus I could run in the early morning through its residential neighborhood and feel safe. Best of all - free parking. The one time we had trouble finding a spot I left my keys with the staff and they parked for me. The room was clean and very big. As other posters have noted, it does not have all the 'extras' of bigger hotels, but the staff provided everything that was missing. The staff was always helpful. The shower had excellent water pressure. The beds were dressed with spotless white down comforters and half a dozen pillows. Breakfast was very handy although heavy on the sugar - even the instant oatmeal was flavored with sugar. To avoid sweets you'd have to stick to the plentiful (and fresh) bagels with trimmings. Regarding security - there was somebody at the front desk 24 hours and I felt very secure there. But if you are a person who is very nervous, know that the locks on the room doors are wobbly and the doors are not heavy and solid. This was not an issue for me at all, but I know that for some people a solid door with a key card is vital for their comfort The whole place was quiet but again, any noise from the hallway came right under and around the doors. My only issue with the place had to do with the placement of my room just over the kitchen - I woke to the sound of cupboards opening and closing every morning at breakfast time. To avoid that just ask for a different room. I can't say enough good things about the manager Aaron. He communicated with me very promptly in advance of our trip, greeted us by name when we arrived, and provided a fruit basket on our second day. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: First floor well away from the kitchen (in the back), or on the second floor well away from the kitc...

PLUSES: EXCELLENT location, peaceful atmosphere, large clean rooms, friendly staff, nice continental breakfast, free parking, refrigerator in room. MINUSES: No elevator. Daughter & I had to schlep luggage up to 2nd floor. Street cleaning & nearby apartments caused lack of parking spaces. No ice machine, hair dryers, or irons in room. AC unit noisy & non-adjustable settings. We are mixed as to whether we would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage, get a room on the first floor. No elevators.
