The hotel is located up in the hills, next to the Yamashiro restaurant, offering breathtaking views of the city. For those who are reluctant to walking up the hill, the staff provides free shuttle service to the rooms, which are in fact bungalows/apartments. The room we had, although functional, was dated and definitely not well-maintained. There were stains on the wall and carpet. The whole place needs a renovation, and thorough cleaning habits. We also did find a few ants in the apartment during our stay, as noted by other travellers.

The staff was curteous and professional.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but this place has the potential to be so much better.

My brother and I stayed up in the Hollywood Hills for a week in October and it was great! Yeah the rooms were dated but the view was breathtaking - you could see all of LA from up there!
The price was exceptional and the facilities at the hotel great! The complimentary breakfast, snacks and wifi were appreciated!
The staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make you feel welcome.
This hotel is in a great location, a block away from Hollywood Boulevard and a short cab ride to West Hollywood. WeHo was great spent a lot of time there! I really enjoyed our stay and will definately stay there again!

Room Tip: I can highly recommend the city view rooms.

We stayed for 4 nights up on the Hill, room 301. We had a fantastic time here, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff were amazing, really super helpful and polite and happy. The pool on the hill is great, we spent a few days lazing by the pool and were pretty much the only people using it. The views from the top of the hill, from the apartment and the pool are nothing short of spectacular. The rooms may be a tiny bit tired, and could do with a paint, but we didn't care about that at all. The location is perfect, a 5 minute walk from reception to Hollywood Boulevard. This place has two hotels, the Hollywood Hills Hotel, up the hill, and down the bottom of the hill The Magic Castle Hotel. If you want spectacular views and an awesome pool then head up the top. We can't recommend this place highly enough, we'll be back.

Room Tip: Get a room on the corner and you get views of the Hills and the City.

We really loved the location of this hotel. So close to everything in Hollywood yet you feel like you're secluded from the city. We really enjoyed how we didn't have to hear the hustle and bustle of the streets but could capture all the great views of the city. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, they never once complained or were "too busy" to help.

The reason I didn't give this hotel a higher rating is due to their up-keep; unfortunately this place has been through a lot and is in desperate need of a make over. It's a good place to rest your head and have a good night's rest but there were some improvements that need to me made. I really wish the owners of the property would capture more of the history of the surroundings, and highlight the Asian-American fusion that once dominated this area. The rooms could use this and I feel help liven up the entire place.

I would recommend this hotel for those travelling as a family, friends, and maybe even couples (although don't expect it to be a spa/boutique hotel...this place is old and dated). So proceed with open minds and knowing that you'll be saving a buck or two and are in a good location with excellent staff.

Now, this hotel is situtated right next to Yamashiro - (Mountain Castle) a sushi restuarant with a breathtaking view of Los Angeles. The property has been part of Hollywood History for almost 100 years. The property consists of lower hotel (Magic Castle , up the hill is Hollywood Hills Hotel then turn to the peak is Yamashiro - all walking distance)

The Hollywood Hlls Hotel is adjacent to The Magc Castle Club where check in, unlimited snacks and complimentary breakfast are available. The hotel is not modern or chic. It doesn't have any flat screen televisions or Ipod docks. However it's pool is next to Yamashiro garden and has a great view of Hollywood since the whole property is situated up in the hills.

It's walking distance to Hollywood Boulevard and Highland. SO the location is a Gem. I had a good experience with my stay. We tried the 1 bedroom suite and the kitchen and restroom were clean stocked with towels and all. It was also quiet and a nice walk down the hill to Hollywood Blvd. (A free shuttle is also available to and from Magic Castle entrance) Parking is $11 a night.

I'll definitely come back- however if you're looking for a luxurious hotel with automatic draperies this isn't it... The Hollywood Hills Hotel is more rustic, simple and tranquil.
