“Service would have been nice.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

We went on a two hour hike in Palos Verdes today and thought it would be nice to come down to the port for a cold drink and a snack. What a mistake. We walked into the Ports O' Call restaurant, sat at a table in the bar area for 10 minutes and was never approached, no one, including the bartender 4 feet from us even said hello to us. Nothing. Instead, we listened to the servers 2 feet from us deciding who had what table on the outside tables. Why a restaurant of this level would rather have staff do this and ignore paying customers is baffling. When we walked out the hostess said, "thank you, have a good afternoon"... she did not even notice we were only there for 10 minutes and not served. Really baffling why we were so blatantly ignored. Instead, we went back to Long Beach and had excellent service and food.

“Great waterfront views and great seafood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

Fresh seafood at reasonable prices; calamari appetizer tenderest I've had. Pleasant waiters and waitresses - a little understafffed so service can be slow. Terrific themed nightly specials from 5:pm to 8:pm at very affordable prices. Kitchen closes at 9:00 pm.

“Great food with a view!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2011

10/31/11 visit
Came with friends visiting from the East Coast. It was a Monday and the whole place was practically deserted but it was near lunchtime, we were hungry and the menu is posted outside - looked good. Good sized patio with only one other occupied table, we took the corner table closest to the harbor. My friend and I both had the Crab Cake Sandwich with creole cole slaw - two huge crab cakes on a french baguette - absolutely yuumy! Hubby had the Build Your Burger with Bleu Cheese - huge size burger that he thoroughly enjoyed and other friend had the Fire-Roasted Portobello Mushroom & Vegetable sandwich - again huge and very tasty. Good beer selection too including Guiness on tap. We were all way to stuffed to even think about dessert. Watched the barges comes in and out of the harbor and also a couple of seals. Just a great meal at reasonable prices!

Evidently this down turn in the economy has hit Ports O' Call Village really hard. Lots of closed up shops and many that are only open on weekends.....I hope it can survive this
