“Great location but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

The entire lobby and front entrance is being renovated so it is missing that reception area ambiance. The room was good, beds comfortable but wireless was an ongoing problem depending on what part of the hotel you are in.
I would give it another chance once the construction is completed.

This has got to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Check-in was very quick. We arrived at 1pm, check-in doesn't start until 4pm. But they let us check-in early. The room was very nicely decorated. We we're put on the 16th floor, with an amazing view of the Hollywood sign. Bed was very comfortable. You can adjust the temp in the room. Bathroom was spacious and clean, we only had a shower in our room, no tub. We we're given clean towels everyday. The best thing about this hotel is the location, right on Hollywood Blvd, you are within reach of everything to see. City buses and the metro stop are right outside the hotel. We only had good experiences with this hotel, on a return trip to L.A. this will be our hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Hollywood Sign

This hotel is large and beautiful. I love the corner suites where the Hollywood sign is visible. Step out of the hotel into shopping and restaurants. Just a short cab ride away from the Grove, Beverly Center and Rodeo Drive. Hotel is kind of impersonal as it is large but this has its advantages. I have stayed there 3 times before and will again

The lobby was under construction, but the temporary lobby and valet functioned very well. As part of a conference, we were treated very well. The hotel is adjacent to an outdoor multi-level mall which leads to Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame. The room was nice and comfortable with one complaint, there was no full-length mirror. The view of the Hollywood Hills from our room was pretty.

I'm always surprised by the bad reviews of this hotel ... I have always enjoyed my stay here and found the people working at the hotel most helpful and extremely friendly. They upgraded me to a suite at no extra cost and gave me a $50 credit for drinks/food. I travel a lot and most hotels do not accommodate their guests as nicely as Loews, granted it is under construction so they are very generous because of this. I was not affected by the renovation and you get a lot worse for a lot more money at other hotels. This is definitely one of my fav hotels in Hollywood and I will def be back.

Great location and a "could be" great hotel! With the construction going on and no access through a lobby, there is much to wish for. The hotel is right in the middle of everything "Hollywood". Our room had a view of the sign. You are just out the door - the side door leading to the mall, that is - to walk on the "walk of fame". All in all, this hotel is in the middle of everything and when all of the sawdust settles will be a great hotel, I am sure.

Room Tip: Be sure to get on a higher floor during the construction!

We stayed for 3 nights as we wanted a hotel on the metro line. Let me start by saying, please do not make the mistake we did and arrive from LAX by metro. 3 changes and 2 hours! Get a shuttle for simplicity. The metro line is great however, if you want to move around the red line only. It was very easy for a Universal Studios tour.

Back to the hotel review .....

After a long journey from the airport, we checked in at 8pm. We received a friendly greeting on arrival and received a large, renovated King sized room. The room was very modern and fresh. The shower was powerful and we appreciated the coffee making facilities in the room. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room nice and quiet.

We had planned just to eat and go to bed on the first night, but as we walked in, Hollywood Blvd was buzzing on our doorstep and its allure was too great! The location of this hotel is everything. We did not have a Hollywood sign view in our room, but it is easy to find in the adjacent Hollywood and Highlands centre.

The first two nights we ate in the Hollywood Centre. This was fine (great choice), but it was not until we ventured further out down Holywood Blvd (turning left) where we found much more local, interesting and cheap places to eat and drink (Stephanos Italian and a good taco/sports bar nearby). It was a shame we did not venture out further earlier on.

We stumbled across a Harrison Ford film premier, but again, we did not find the listings of all the local events until the last day. I recommend you check these out every day (from the Concierge desk). Our full schedule did not permit time to join the audience for tv shows - again, there are lots of tickets being handed out just outside the metro centre.

We would have really appreciated the pool on the second day, but it was closed for a private function which was a shame. We had half an hour to enjoy the pool area on our last day, but we would have liked a swim as it was a nice place to hang out.

The hotel was affordable to us because of the renovation discount. The renovations did not affect our stay at all and we appreciated a fresh modern bedroom.

As Brits, we enjoyed the experience of an American diner. We went to Mels Diner, just across Hollywood Blvd, for breakfast for 2 days. Both times we had excellent breakfast and service for about half the price of the hotel.

We very much enjoyed Loews Hollywood hotel and all that was to offer in the surrounding area. We tried to cram in too much, but can highly recommend the Sunset Ranch in Griffiths Park; as well as visiting Farmers Market/The Grove for great non-chain food and shopping experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.
