“Excellent location”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

We stayed for 7 nights in June/July. We had a room with 2 double beds to accomodate 3 adults. Rooms are a little on the small side but comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. We have stayed here a couple of times - the hotel is in a perfect location for sight seeing in Hollywood and access to tours etc. The hotel had just changed to Loews but staff were friendly and we were able to check in early - no problems. Our luggage was brought promptly and the guy that did this was very helpful with a few tips on local amenities. The pool area is very nice.
Our room was on the 7th floor and could have used a tidy up as looking a little tired.
Overall an enjoyable stay and will stay there again.

My family chose this hotel for its Hollywood location and our room with a view of the sign itself. It is convenient to everything in Hollywood - and with the Chinese Theater and mall attached, it is extremely convenient. They are obviously trying to be trendy as well, but they really should just relax and be more friendly. All of the employees we made contact with were short and not very pleasant. That being said, the service was very good and the room was great. Four stars for room quality and location.

Room Tip: Pay a little more to face the Hollywood sign

Just returned from our July 4th stay at the newly acquired Loews Hollywood Hotel. Traveled with our family of 4 - 2 adults, 2 kids 15 & 11. We stayed in a Junior Suite on the 7th floor with 2 King beds overlooking the Hollywood Hills and sign.

Pros:
Great location for Hollywood sightseeing - view of Hollywood sign from most rooms; Grauman's Chinese Theater/Dolby Theater (formerly Kodak)/Hollywood Stars Walk of Fame/Madame Tussauds Wax Museum all in the same block, lots of shopping/dining just around the corner.
Bellman/Valet Parking Attendants were efficient and friendly. Were happy to offer tips for the area and driving directions.
We had a plumbing issue with our shower and the Maintenance workers were very friendly, efficient and promised to have the issue fixed in 10 minutes - it took them 4 - they stated it was a new record for them.
Housekeeping was happy to bring us additional towels and did so swiftly when we called them.
Beds were EXTREMELY comfortable and luxurious - very welcoming after several tiring days of sightseeing in the area. We really enjoyed the 2 King Beds for our family of 4 - there was also a pull out sofa if needed.
Starbucks in the lobby was a nice convenience and coffee was served with a smile by a lovely barista in the morning.
Pool area was nice and fairly well kept with rooftop view of the Hollywood sign.

Cons:
We checked in around 1pm and were not surprised to find our room unavailable. The front desk clerk advised us to put our luggage items in storage and grab some lunch, it should only be an hour at the most. So we ran around the corner to Hard Rock Cafe and did some sightseeing, returning back after 1 hour 45 minutes to, "no, your room is not ready". We were weary and in need of a break but were then forced back out on the street for another hour plus before we were called that the room was available. Sounds like this happens on a regular basis from other reviews.
The description of the room included 2 sinks in a spacious bathroom - spacious bathroom was correct but 1 sink and NO towel racks/1 hook - had to hang towels on doors or throw on floor. Plenty of space for 3 large towel racks in the bathroom - hope they consider adding these when they renovate.
Our plumbing problem was handled poorly by the front desk - they offered nothing for our inconvenience and we had to tell them how they were going to handle our move if the problem was unable to be fixed. As stated above - the problem was fixed by Maintenance staff quickly.
The room and hallway carpets are definitely in need of cleaning/replacement - but I am assuming this will be included in the Loews renovation.
The charging for Wi-Fi is so ridiculous for a business friendly luxury hotel chain - if you must charge just roll it into the room rate - the nickel and dime-ing game is disappointing.
Valet parking was $32 - everywhere in the area offers valet and charges a lot for the service. Self Parking was an option for $15 or $20 a day but I don't believe this would give in and out privileges.

All in all our stay was good not great. This hotel is about the only one of this caliber/size/amenities in this very popular tourist area. Location is great!

Room Tip: Rooms are on floors 5-20. Ask for a view of the Hollywood sign and hills if this is more appealing t...

For the first-time Hollywood visitor, you can't beat the location. In the same block as the Dolby Theatre (formerly Kodak) and Chinese Theater, there are multiple "seen on TV and in the movies" spots in this area. And the Hollywood sign is visible from the pool deck and the attached shopping mall. But I emphasize "for the first-time" - I likely will not stay in the area again. Somewhat of a freak show at night on Hollywood Blvd.

The hotel was clean and room was solid. We stayed in a Jr. Suite ... essentially one big room with two king beds. Worked well for a family of four. We had one minor issue with the shower ... handle broke ... I thought for sure we'd have to change rooms. Hotel engineering was at our door within 5 minutes of calling for service, and back in order within 15 minutes. Very impressed. Valet parking is steep ($32 per day), but there is a self-park option somewhere in the complex.

Right from the start as you walk in the lobby is ultra modern and I can"t say enough for the friendly and helpful staff. The Hotel room was amazing! spectacular views with floor to ceiling windows. The plush bed was so comfortable that I actually looked for the manufacturer ticket on mattress (GENTLE NIGHTS II PLUSH by SIMMONS BEAUTY REST CLASSIC) I will be purchasing the same exact mattress. The Staff at Preston's restaurant were very professional and friendly, the breakfast was very tasty and their pancakes are made from scratch with fresh blueberries. The Hotel is conveniently attached to an amazing mall. with huge sculptures of elephants. as you walk outside onto hollywood bld. you will see the stars walk of fame, the grumans chineese theater, madamme tousssands wax museum, kodak theater. Lowes formerly the Renaissance is the most centrally located hotel in all off Hollywood. 5 Stars all the way

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views

Recently spent a week at Loews Hollywood with a group of 8. We had two twin rooms on Club Level facing dowtown and the Hollywood sign. Club lounge benefits were included in our rate. Overall, our stay was okey but I felt disapointed because of the lack of customer service. Check in personnel was ignorant and unfriendly, they were also unable to help with some basic inquiries such as more shampoo needed, room change etc. Highlights of this hotel are its location (which cannot be beat), WP pool restaurant (amazing prices) and the club lounge. If you want to stay in Hollywood, this is a good choice, otherwise don´t bother. You´ll be much better off somewehere else! If you stay here, book the club level room.

Room Tip: The view is to die for! If you can, book a high floor facing dowtown.

A native Angelina, I know the city inside out. This hotel is perfect for business, leisure, and sightseeing. It is steps from Hollywood Blvd, the theatres, shopping, restaurants and other entertainment. It is also just a skip away from the freeway exit, which makes it very convenient if you are driving to farther points in L.A. I was here on a girls' weekend retreat and we had 4 girls to a room. We had requested 2 beds in each room, however upon check in we were informed they only had rooms with ONE king size bed available. The gal at the front desk upgraded both reservations to a suite with one king size bed and a sofa bed for no additional charge. She was polite and helpful.

The suite was very spacious, and we had some nice city views. The bathroom very big with a separate anterooom. The sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable. We requested extra blankets and towels from housekeeping and they responded promptly.

Overall, a very nice property with simply PREMIER location-- wether you're looking to be close to the stars of Hollywood, or looking for a good central point to set camp in the City of Angels.
