“Good location”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

We needed to be near the train station in Los Angeles and were looking for a nice hotel that wouldn't break the bank. This hotel was clean and we got good service. The price was less than most in the area. I grew up near this area so I am familiar with it. It's not pretty but during the day it's fine to walk around and easy access to downtown LA. I've stayed at the Biltmore and paid more and had a run down room there, whereas this hotel was new. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: I asked for a top floor, quiet room, and that seems to be what I got

Certainly not top of the line, but adequate for a one night stay in LA; and the price was right. Great location for exploring Arts District (funky cafes, fabulous graffiti art), Little Tokyo, and an easy walk to Disney Performance Hall.

i booked a 3 star hotel downtown for 6 nights on hotwire, and got miyako, i was hoping it would be miyako, so i was happy with what i was given
i knew about the parking, which was approx $22 a day
before we arrived i emailed the hotel and asked for a double room, which i was told that is what i'd be getting so i was disappointed when they gave us a twin room...i didn't complain though
there was one guy in particular at valet who was seriously no use!!! so many times we went down told him we wanted the car... we like to wait as my husband can have a smoke...yet the guy just sat there and ignored us...one time we waited a whole 10 minutes...if it wasn't for the security guard who noticed something wasn't right we would still have been standing there
however the was another valet guy i think on nights? he was very smart, and he *ran* everytime someone called for their car
rooms felt small, theres a coffee machine, i drank green tea, however as its two people sharing the room i expect 2 packets of green tea...we was given one and on a few occasions...none at all!!!

location is great, wouldn't stay again though, and if i had paid full price i'd be even more annoyed, could improve on alot of things

p.s wifi is very fast!!

Stayed there one night with grandson to attend LA Clippers game at Staples center. The area has a lot of Japanese restaurants and bars, and seems safe to walk even late at night. Ample public transit nearby. I took the bus to Staples Center from across the street which took about 15 minutes. The cab ride back to hotel was $12 plus tip.

The Miyako was a great value at $129 plus tax, considering the location and amenities. The room was clean and quiet. The beds were very plush and comfortable. TV had limited stations but there is a DVD player so I brought my own movies to watch. The toilet was amazing - heated seat and water with bidet "I feel so fresh". Valet parking was well worth the $20 per night. All of the staff that I dealt with were friendly and helpful.

I would stay here again if attending an event at Staples Center.

We stayed at the Miyako Hotel in Los Angeles from Feb 16 to Feb18. We came off a two week cruise to Hawaii and decided to do a little touring in Los Angeles. Having to leave the ship in the morning we decided to leave our luggage at the hotel while we did our touring. We were pleasantly surprised when we were told that we could check in just before noon as our rooms were ready. Check-in was very easy, helpful clerks, snack bar in lobby was great for a good cup of coffee. Good neighbourhood with restaurnats close by. Valet parking was convenient and all staff were friendly. Rooms were clean and decorated in Japanese theme.

The hotel is average regarding its standards. It surely fills the function of a "cheap"(for being LA) hotel if you dont wanna stay in a motel, but they could invest a little more in it.

the room: The room was a bit worn and the toilet/bathroom wasnt the cleanest i've seen (not dirty, just looked worn), but it wasn't very grave. The windows were dirty. The room is quite big to, so I guess it makes it an average hotel.

location: situated in the heart of downtown, very good location! not to far to hollywood by metro, maybe 20 minutes.

If you re not to picky with "luxury" this hotel is a good value, but i would probably try to stay in hollywood next time i visit LA

I chose this hotel for the location because I was attending a gallery opening at the Japanese American National Museum and it is perfectly located about a block away, and adjacent to the Japanese American Plaza/Little Tokyo area. It's also about a mile from Union Station if you are taking the flyaway bus from LAX or coming in by train. (Do be sure to get correct directions if you walk from Union Station to avoid a wrong turn). I took an $8 cab ride back to the station for the Flyaway back. Front desk and bell staff excellent. The rooms have all essentials; only certain floors have wireless so check if you need that. Amenities are typical; toilet has heated seat and some fancy settings I couldn't get to work right. Plenty of towels; pillows hefty and not pliable so bring your own if you're fussy. Roomy room safe fits laptops etc. Nice TV with half Japanese and half US stations, not a ton of stations. Pleasant public areas with small cafe; a bar on second floor. Didn't try the restaurant; plenty of additional options in the adjacent plaza. I'd stay here again especially if I needed to be in the area.

Room Tip: Heard neighbors laughing in the evening and morning on my 6th floor room, but it was otherwise very...
