Owner description: The oldest street in Los Angeles is fun to visit, especially during special events like the "Blessing of the Animals" or "Dia De Los Muertos" (Day of the Dead.)

It was so much fun to be here, in the heart of the megacity of Los Angeles and see it's humble beginnings and be thrown back in time...into Mexico. It's most certainly a tourist's comic-book like idea of Mexico, but nevertheless. The Plaza, the market, ths museum house, ...all very charming, very cozy and so interesting to see the contrast with other places in LA. It was worth to stop here.

This was a good spot for lunch after arriving in LA. A lot of little shops with souvenirs and restaurants with inexpensive Mexican food.

If I ever moved to LA one day, Olvera Street and I would see each other almost every weekend I reckon. It is an absolutely incredible spot - so much history and rich with culture. If you are a tourist visiting, then you'll love the cheap souvenirs and other little things that you can get.

It's the first place I wanted to see after flying into LA. There are great little stores and stands that sell cheap stuffs and make sure you try some of the sweets. I had the cactus candy, which was pretty good.

We also had a late lunch at La Noche Buena and it was so good - really cheap authentic mexican food.

Next time you're in LA, do yourself a favour and visit Olvera Street.

We were looking for a cute place to walk around and saw the suggestion on Trip Advisor. We drove there and parking was easy in one of the public lots across the street. Olvera Street is adorable. The architecture is historical, the food was yummy, the shopkeepers couldn't have been more friendly. Lots of the same stuff for sale but we all had fun looking around. A fun family afternoon.

We walk from the Walt Disney concert hall to this street. There a great number of homeless people around. But they were not in Olvera street area. There was all sort of vendors selling things like purses, candy, clothes and trinkets. The vendors don’t bargain. As we were on the Hop on Hop off we didn’t have a problem with parking. But the bus ride to Hollywood did leave early at 3:00 pm.
