As trendoid restaurants come and go, especially in Silverlake, Gobi is about half a year away from its fifth anniversary and this says a lot for it in that it's succeeded in reaching this milestone that few places do and the reasons are: Quality Ingredients, Friendly Service, Fair Prices. How many other places in town have taken the time to do the research and come up with a variety of sauces that are both low-sodium and MSG-free? Gobi has and it shows. Ingredients are fresh and as much as possible, farm 2 table. Your meal is priced by weight with the initial lunch-time portion being a whopping 1.5 pounds with each additional 1/4-pount costing an extra dollar! That's a lot of food for little money. You select the meat (pork, beef, chicken) and any veggies you like from a huge selection, add noodles (white or brown rice are also available for additional cos, btw) and your choice of sauce from abou 6 or so choices and then it's all cooked for you on a suer-hot grill. Hot sauce and sesame seeds are available for garnish. The dish is served with these delicious, hot-out-of-the-oven, pufffy rolls that you sprinkle a little agave syrup on....YUMMY! Lots of choices of bottled beers and on tap as well as refreshing, crisp mint iced-tea, soft-drinks, etc. Every day of the week there's something special ranging from an all-you-can eat day to free gelato with your meal day. Every time we visit Los Angeles Gobi is one of our must-visit sites and it continues to satisfy after all this time. It's unassuming and not at all pretentious but if what you like is quality food and good service at fair prices, this is the place to go. http://gobimongolianbbq.com/

Piled on lots of veggies and spicy sauce on noodles, and watched the cooks mix and stir fry it all together. Enjoyed every bite. They have a good selection of craft beers too.

I really like Gobi. This is a great standby restaurant that you can count on to be always fresh and tasty. They offer a very large selection of meats and vegetables to pile high in your bowl. You can mix several different spices, and sauces to make a lovely sauce to sautee your veggies in. I love piling my bowl really high, and watching the chef push it around the big hot stone. The end result is a delicious stir fry that is hot, tantalizing and aromatic. I love eating at Gobi and the price is right too. It's not pretentious and it's not expensive. The wait staff is very friendly also. I like that about Gobi. The only thing I don't like is the way the food bar is shaped in an "L" which tends to clog up the line really badly.
