We only had 2 full days in LA, so decided to get a 48 hour ticket (not cheap, something like $60?!) and thought this would be the most effective way to get around and see as much as we could, as there were 4 different routes and we figured you'd need a lot of time. This is true. Because the buses are SO bad!!! They are totally infrequent, never on time, and just plain annoying. We got off at Venice Beach and couldn't work out where the stop was on the other side of the road to get back on - there was a mother and daughter wandering around with the same problem. Poorly signed. When we got on at Santa Monica Pier, it must have sat there for about 40 mins for no reason, even though the bus was full. Just infuriating, after enduring 2 days of it. You have to get back on this line after coming from this line, and then have to transfer to the red line to get back to Hollywood. Ugh. It wastes so much time. I wish we'd just hired a car for 2 days, would have been so much easier. Also, there is a stop near Rodeo Drive but around the backstreet where a lot of people have to change lines to get back to Hollywood, and there is a public toilet here which is necessary after being stuck on a bus for so long. Well, the stupid code on the door wasn't working so no one could get in. Myself (a pregnant woman) and 2 other girls ended up going on a hunt for 15 minutes, almost missing the next bus, to try and find another toilet, with no luck. Unacceptable. The downtown LA loop is a complete waste of time, we found nothing interesting about this area. I have been on many City Sightseeing buses in the US and in other countries and many have been fantastic, but this one is just awful.
