Description: Inspired by the sights and sounds of Greenwich Village, Bleecker Street brings a little taste of lower Manhattan to Southern California. The interior is "Village Fun" with influence from SOHO, Little Italy and the Warehouse District. Dining options start on our mezzanine over looking the action of the restaurant and with a view our soaring floor to ceiling glass windows, or a table for two next to the fireplace and a bottle of fine wine. Whether it's a seat at the bar, the padded banquette, our main dining area, or the outside patio, it's all pure Village feel with not a bad seat in the house. We look forward to sharing our passion for good food and service with you, and welcome you as our guests. We are proud of the time and effort that goes into preparing each of our dishes and look forward to serving you.

We were so excited when Bleecker Street opened up near us. Nice looking place with atmosphere and perhaps good food? Unfortunately, the 3 times we've been, it's always been disappointing. The food is just a little off. Fine but not great. We've left the last two times asking ourselves why we went there. Now we will remember and not return.

This place has the kind of atmosphere that is severely lacking in the San Fernando Valley - at least in the stretch from Encino to Agoura. It has a nice candlelit city vibe in an older building that makes you feel like you are somewhere back east. (As a former St. Louisan this is something I miss.) It can be a bit loud in the main dining area but they have outdoor seating as well that faces a relatively quiet street off Ventura. There is ample free parking behind the restaurant for 90 minutes.
Now onto the food! First, they have a great variety of appetizers. I chose the hush puppies with jalapeno jam. Sounds kind of odd, but this was one of the most unique appetizers I've had in the past year or two. You get four very crispy and dark cornbread pups. The inside is sweet from the corn and the outside has a savory taste with excellent crunch. Add the jam and it is really something unique. You really should try them!
I had a pizza for dinner and it was very good. They have a good variety to suit meat-eaters and vegetarians like me.
We didn't get dessert as we're all trying to stay fit! (to some degree)
