My husband and I recently went to Barbrix for the first time on a "date." We arrived on the earlier side of the evening and sat at the bar. First, our bartender was fantastic. Just outstanding. I wish I got her name. All of her recommendations were spot on (she was as good a sommelier as they come). The food was out of this world. We decided to eat tapas style and just share a number of plates. I highly recommend it - we shared in all of the different flavors and it was fun. We started with the crostini appetizer (three different flavors). Moved on to the octopus salad and polenta with mushrooms. Then a cheese course. And finally their pasta entree. Oh and we also shared their doughnut/ice cream desert. Nothing lacked for flavor or presentation. We tried several different wines through the evening, which were heavenly but obviously made up the majority of our bill.
Two notes... the plates are small portions. We filled up quickly (the copious amounts of wine didn't hurt) but just be aware. Also the restaurant gets very loud as the night progresses so it may not be as intimate at 8:30 if that is what you are looking for (but since we were at the bar away from people, we didn't have that issue).
