“Off the beaten path and personable”
Reviewed April 27, 2012 via mobile

This was almost a private tour. Hargo was so informative and you can tell he loves what he does and the history of this area. In addition to his knowledge about architecture and the Hollywood history it was fun to learn about the nature. We even saw a cayote! We would go on a different tour with Hargo on a future trip because it was so easy paced and personable. Way above your average tour!!

“Great tour of Hollywood hills for locals and out-of-towners”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

Even though we live only a few miles from the Hollywood sign, we had never been to this early 1900s neighborhood where there are great views of the sign, downtown LA, and even Catalina Island on a clear day. Our guide, Hargo, pointed out the homes of Clark Gable, Bela Lugosi, Roy Rogers and others as we meandered along the narrow serpentine hillside streets and climbed the very steep secret staircases during this 3 hour adventure. We learned about early residential architecture styles and edible native plants, getting plenty of exercise too. Wear good walking shoes, bring water and a camera.

“Hargo did it again!”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

We booked this Hollywood Sign Adventure. Gee, it made me sweat a lot. We made about 3 Miles and 850 stept towards the sign. I cursed my overweight and my camerabag.
Did I regret having booked? Not for one second!! It was eversthing we had wished for. Hargo did such a good job to give us insights we would have never got otherwise. He made us see Los Angeles as few locals might have seen it. We have had one of those "usual" tours, too, so we can tell the difference. If you are not the "crowd-type" who likes being hushed from one place to the other more or less on your own (20 minutes please and be back on the bus in time!!) then go with Hargo. The few dollars that it might cost more are compensated a hundredfold by his personal way of showing you around!

“LA As Never Seen Before!”
Reviewed August 8, 2010

The hiking excursion I signed up for was perfect. A great way to get-a-way from the usual LA traffic and enjoy some natural scenery in and around Santa Monica. The lunch served was a delicious treat and the hiking lead was quite knowlegeable about the surrounding area. To top the day off we stopped at a winery to relax and take in the great mountain views.

If you are looking for an LA escape -- I would recommend hiring LA Adventures!

“See L.A. sights with a knowledgeable guide and enjoy the wonders of this city.”
Reviewed May 28, 2010

I took the "Hidden Treasures Adventure" with four friends. Our guide was so knowledgeable as he guided us from one hidden treasure to another. If you like to see more than what the big bus tours show you, then I highly recommend L.A. Active Adventures.
