We booked the 3 1/2 fun bus tour, through our concierge.

The tour was to start at 9.30am, and we were told we’d be picked up at 8.20am - earlier than we were thinking but ok. Picked up on time, collecting a few others on the way. We’re in a closed in minibus at this stage and are told we’re being taken to the office in Hollywood where we’ll transfer to the open top bus. Ok - again not what we’re expecting but we’ll go with it. Get to the office at about 8.50am - very shabby office with offhand service. We’re told to have a look around the area and be back for 9.30am. This is when you start to realise this is actually part of the tour they’ve sold you for $75 each. Chinese theatre, stars on the Walk of Fame etc is Stop 1. Run up and down the road and spot as much as you can in the time limit. The open bus turns up at 9.30am and the driver says she needs to go ‘sort herself out’ so we hang around for another 8 mins, looking at the holes in the seat of the ‘Fun Bus’.

There are sockets for headphones at least so we thought we’d have audio tour - but no headphones. The driver spoke over a speaker which it was impossible for us to here 3 seats back with no roof, particularly at the speeds she was driving. She may well have been ‘knowledgeable and entertaining’ - I couldn’t tell you.

As others have said, ‘celebrity homes’ is a very loose description. You saw trees or the top or a roof where someone once lived but you will not see ‘celebrity homes’.

We had half hour at the observatory where you could take pictures of the Hollywood sign from a distance which was ok.

We went through sunset strip and stopped in Beverley Hills were we had half hour stop but by the time you walked down Rodeo Drive you had to get back to the bus. Not enough time here at all. We drove Mulholland Drive which was interesting and there were some great views.

Some of the tour was good - but the cost needs to be negotiated right down - as does your expectation.

It was also 97degrees and I was really surprised there was no water on board. At one time we were stuck in traffic and I thought I’d pass out as we’d run out of water.

To top it all, we went on a detour before sunset strip as one couple wanted to skip this and be dropped off at their hotel. We were then dropped back at their Hollywood office - tour ended. We had to go into the office and ask how we were to get back to the hotel they picked us up from. They did arrange an Uber then to take us back but they were certainly not going to offer it, so if you don’t ask you will be making your own way back.

There is also that tip sign where suggested tips range from $5-20 per person! Really? $150 for a two person tour and you’re hoping for another $40 on top. Hmmmm.

I actually blame our hotel for recommending this company as they should know exactly what they’re recommending.

This is a good tour, and overview of the area. It was nice someone else did the driving because the traffic in the area is nuts. The driver covered many areas, and talked almost nonstop. He gave us a nice overview of the interesting areas from the beach (Venice), to the many interesting and famous destinations (Sunset Strip). For us the section of the tour driving through neighborhoods to see “Celebrity Homes” was a big yawn - we do not care, or are we likely to remember who, what, and where they are.

Good tour covers a lot of ground but have this tour 7 years ago and would of liked more stops rather than just driving

We had a great time on this tour that we did on a stopover. We had never been to LA and saw a lot in the time. It covers all the main sights in air conditioning
The driver was very helpful and informative.
