Must make time for this when visiting L.A. Along with the art, the views and architecture are spectacular. Every photo you take over there will turn out perfect. We took an architecture tour and leaned a lot about the design of the museum and the gardens. The website tells you when the tours are. We also took advantage of the free iPod audio tour they have. That kept the kids busy as they enjoyed listening to the narrations.

Not sure of all of the food options. We ate at their main restaurant. You can make a reservation on OpenTable.com. Don't do it the day of- you may not get a reservation. It is pricey, but the restaurant itself has beautiful views and the food was very high quality.

Make time when you visit the Getty. Can't see getting in and out of there in two hours. It takes time to park and ride the tram to the museum. You will also want time to enjoy the gardens while you are up there. Make a day out of it. It is an uplifting place that shouldn't be rushed.

“Visit too short but excellent!”

Irises awesome Manet Monet Turner Fox Talbot Hepworth and Moore but saw the Canterbury Cathedral windows and St Albans bible both being restored. And would never have seen. Designed like a sixties cult HQ but will be back!

“Stunning modernist architecture, great collection, superb view”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

I can't recommend this place enough. As if the art exhibitions were not superb enough, the buildings in which they are housed are a breathtaking example of modernist architecture that serve their functional purpose whilst being beautiful, stunning and perfectly fitting to their hilltop position: like a 20th century Acropolis. The views and gardens are gorgeous and jaw-dropping. Los Angeles should be truly proud of possessing such a jewel in its crown.

“Great museum in LA”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

Long ago this was $5 for parking and a free museum. Now it's $15 for parking. Still free museum. But if you add lunch in their cafe to it, for 2 people, the outing will cost you about $40. So it's kind of pricey for "free". But I can't complain about the lack of admission fee. The exhibits are nice to walk around. Yes. But the grounds are actually the biggest attraction. The gardens are great. It's a fun place to eat outside. And going up to higher floors where you can go outside is a must, especially for picture taking. It's a really pretty site overlooking the city.
