Go. Period. Even if you just sit outside and have lunch. There's so much to see, so well organized and something for everyone

“Do not miss this site!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

A tram takes you up to the top of a mountain and you are greeted by an architectrual gem and a breathtaking view of the entire Los Angeles area. If that is not enough, the museum contains an eclectic group of world-famous paintings.

“Worth a visit even if you aren't that interested in art!”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

The Getty Centre is an amazing building situated atop a hill (reached by a free tram that goes up and down every few minutes). The grounds are beautiful and well-manicured and there is a fabulous view across LA. The entry is free so there is nothing to lose! We caught a bus from Hollywood which took about an hour. Parking is $15.

“A 'must' for art lovers and 'well worth a visit' for everyone.”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

This is an amazing place, the architecture, the facilities and the organisation are world class. I recommend that, rather than get directly on to the tram to the main complex (runs every 4 minutes and takes 2 minutes), it's well worth going directly into the Fran and Ray Stark sculpture garden where the first thing you see is Henry Moore's large 'Bronze form' , keep going... all the way down to the left, via works by others (including Miro), to find Moore's 'Draped reclining mother and baby'. This sets you up nicely for what is to come. I then went and had a cup of tea on the immaculately maintained terrace by the restaurant in front of the main complex, sitting quietly under manicured ornamental trees taking in the architecture and tone. Then I went round all 4 'wings' of the main complex, East/North/South/West, and the quality of the exhibits is outstanding. Just a list says it all: Gainsborough, Degas, Turner, Millet, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh. All well presented in beautiful viewing galleries. I was there midday on a Tuesday and it didn't seem busy although the 7 levels of parking were nearly full! Highly recommend going here and taking your time. I took 2 hours but could easily have taken 3!
