Love coming up here, its nice just to hang out. Gardens are lovely, and the architecture is wonderful.
Free, except for parking.
View is fantastic. Nice breeze on a hot day.
Some good art exhibitions, not as comprehensive as Im used to in London or NY but still probably as much as you can take in, in one go anyway!

We visited this on the morning we were departing LA so only had 2 hours here but wished we had more time to look around. I'd do a minimum of half a day, if not a full day here!
They offer free tours which run throughout the day.
Yummy food and good coffee at the cafe, reasonably priced too.
Stunning views from the south building over LA!
Loved the architecture here.
Also there is free wifi available which is useful for travellers.

This museum is not like the one in Malibu. I completely enjoyed the one in Malibu many years ago. This one is very spread out, difficult for handicapped to get around and not nearly as interesting. Been there, done that, won't do it again.

Its very generous of the Getty Family to have opened a center/museum for the enjoyment and curiosity of the public. And that for free. They try to accommodate their different  visitors. The audio guides (Ipod Touch!) for adults and for kids are a nice touch. They also have an arts and crafts section for little ones.

The center is full of interesting things to do and to see. The views, the architecture and gardens deserve a solid 5*. We were blown away by the views of LA on one side and Santa Monica on the other. We stayed to watch the sunset and it was breathtaking. The sky above the ocean was shades of orange, pink, blue. We sometimes forget to appreciate things like sunsets.

We weren't blown away by the art collections. Perhaps because we're from Europe and have access to a lot of amazing museums and galleries. I was very surprised that some paintings (Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin,   Cézanne, Rembrandt, etc...) weren't in a  roped area. It made me suspicious of the authenticity of the paintings. Perhaps they keep the real ones away from plebs like us! Haha. But what does it matter?

I admire the fact that the gardens are kept in excellent shape and condition. We spent a good hour discussing the different types of plants, trees, flowers present.  We liked the mediterranean feel the gardens have.

We had a wonderful time at the Getty Center. If we had the chance to go back on a sunny day, we definitely would.
