The collections, The view, The outdoor setting The way you are treated, The cost. All the best! I always try to go here. your day starts with a Tram ride up the mountain. The view from the tram is spectacular, worth the trip in and by itself. The staff treats everyone well. There are various places to have coffee or a snack here. It will make you visit here more leasurly, enjoy the whole thing. Of course their exhibits are well worth seeing, always a good variety.

Modern architectural masterpiece to house masterpieces. Lovely views of LA. Take the architectural tour and the garden tour if time permits. And it's free except for the parking. LA at it's finest.

The tram took us above the freeway traffic and construction into a quieter realm of water fountains, labyrinthine gardens, and travertine buildings with panoramic terrace views. Rain fell from the sky as we listened to various sounds of water along the garden's zigzag path. Taking a break from the art and photography exhibits, we relaxed in chairs under bougainvillea trained into umbrella-like shapes. We ended our visit by watching the sunset from the Sculpture Garden in the Lower Terrace.

The Getty Center has so many incredible collections and pieces---it was impossible to see all that I wanted to in a few short hours, but that was a good problem to have! The special exhibition there currently on the Renaissance was highly informative and well-displayed. It was raining the day we went so we weren't able to see the grounds well at all, but even in the rain we saw such beauty in the architecture of the buildings, the placement of the courtyard plants and water features, and the hilltop setting. I was unaware of the breadth of the Getty collections---what a bargain for a $15 parking fee, with no other entrance fees. The Impressionist collections are worth a trip by themselves. I like the fact that the Getty Center has completely different collections and themes from the Getty Villa---It makes each museum stand out far more!
