If I was young this is where I would want to be. The place was packed and is incredibly noisy. Still it is a fun place to go with a big group as the tables are round and well suited for groups. There were just 3 of us. The menu is creative and varied and the prices are very reasonable.

Bottlega Louie is located near the theater district in downtown LA, We noticed several groups and couples arriving for dinner and cocktails dressed for an evening of theater or symphony entertainment. That said, this place is for everyone with a passion for great deserts! As you enter you see an array of macarons displayed in entertaining arrangements and cases. The whole wall is dedicated to "deserts" showcased in several glass cases. Take a gaze and think about desert before you order your dinner entrée.
The atmosphere is hype and somewhat noisy, however, we had no problem having a table conversation without interruption.
We started our meal with the house salad, very good.
We also selected the Dolcetto Chiara Boschis, Alba 2010 to accompany our meal. This is a great Northern Italian wine and a good value as a red that provides a lighter semi fruit flavor with rich dark red color with a dryer after taste. It goes well with most pasta dishes and pizza but will also hold its own with more complex entree's.
For our main entrée we selected the Gnocchi with Pomodoro sauce and the Tagliatelle Bolognese. Both dishes came with a creamy red sauce base and were excellent.
We also noticed several other dishes coming out of the kitchen near us that looked inviting for future visits.
Our desert selection was made from a review of the deserts displayed in the "desert case", from which we selected the "Peanut Butter Terrine" - layers of peanut butter chocolate, caramel and chocolate sauce. It was truly delicious. Another excellent choice would have been their signature "Chocolate soufflé". The folks at the next table ordered this and when it came we just looked at each other and said - "Next Time"! It looked wonderful with a baked exterior and creamy rich chocolate center, Yum!
It was a great meal with great people watching opportunities as most guests previewed the desert counter before, during and after their dinners. FUN PLACE!

Had to wait for a table but so worth it. We both had pasta dishes and wow so delicious. We spend alot of time in Italy and Louie's food was every bit as good as the best we've had in the pasta's homeland. Tiramasu for dessert-and we rated 9 out of 10, but we have only ever give full marks for this dessert -once in a restaurant near Lake Garda and once at Marco Pierre Whites restaurant

The atmosphere is vibrant, positive and un-stuffy. The waitstaff are probably the best I have encountered in Los Angeles since...I don't know when, really. Very friendly, not fake, know their menu's and what to suggest, know exactly when to show up and when to stay away. Even the water guy knew "proper etiquette/professionalism" for filling water glasses! The food was great and the staff were better. We will definitely be back!
