Owner description: We're a light-hearted look at the Dark Side of Hollywood. Since 2004 Dearly Departed Tours has provided a 3 hour tour of the Deathstyles of the Rich and Famous. Mae West and Bela Lugosi, to Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, with a side of Hugh Grant and Chris Brown and Rihanna thrown in for good measure. "Creepy, Hilarious, but not for kids or the prissy." - Lonely Planet. Also available, The Helter Skelter Tour - based solely on the Manson Murders. Join Scott Michaels, the host of the documentary, The Six Degrees of Helter Skelter will unravel this bizarre time in American History. American Horror Story based their "Eternal Darkness Tour" on us and we've been featured on Ghost Adventures, Anthony Bourdain's The Layover, E! 20 Most Horrifying Hollywood Murders and The Girls Next Door. In 2017 we opened our Artifact Museum which includes a piece of The Hindenburg, Rock Hudson's death bed, Natalie Wood's prescription bottle and Jayne Mansfield's 1966 Buick death car.

We wanted to do something fun on our last day in the USA after a 3-week holiday, and this fitted the bill nicely. We enjoyed a relaxed and entertaining afternoon with our tour guide. Our guide clearly has a deep interest in this subject, and enthusiatically recounted stories of meeting some celebrities, as well as offering his own thoughts and opinions (based on research) of celebrity deaths and other Hollywood incidents.

The group were encouraged to participate, with prizes (Tootsie Rolls) offered to those who correctly answered random questions about scandals along the way

It was a 3-hour tour and does include a "celebrity" bathroom stop.

Highly recommended for a fun trip through the dark side of Hollywood.

At the end of the tour we received a short lecture on how it was "rude" for tour guides to have signs up in relation to tipping at the commencement of a tour, and that he would never do such a thing. He does not, however, seem to mind giving a lecture on tipping, which ensures that you will not forget to tip.

The tour is supposed to last 2.5 hours, and I can honestly say it lasted all of it. Well thought out and planned, we really enjoyed ourselves with our tour guide Richard. Along with commentary, voice clips, photos, we were able to follow along and understand everything. The tour visits some murder sights, as well as some Hollywood star homes so it is a perfect mix of everything. your tour guide expects 15-20% tip so be sure to bring cash, if they are as good as Richard it is worth it. Get there early and park around the corner from the bookstore for $10 all day parking. Also this tour is not suitable for children, so I wouldn't bring anyone under 18.

My wife and I did this tour after seeing it on a travel show in Australia and we had a ball! You will have a great time on this tour. Our guide was great, he himself is so interesting let alone the history you'll learn about LA's morbid past. They'll take you to lots of places where stars took their last breathes, all the while seeing some areas of LA you probably would never have seen. LA certainly has a very colorful past and you get to know more about along the way. Some of the most notorious murders and tragic deaths are discussed. But it's not done for shock value, sure some of the details are gruesome, but these are all told in an educated way. We had great time and would recommend you take the tour as well.

As an LA Native, I thought I knew a bit. Taking Scotts tour of Hollywood murder and death locations gave me a whole new look at things. I have heard that Brian is really great also, and will make a point of taking his tour next.

Wow - we were so blown away by this tour! We took the Hollywood Tragical History Tour on a Saturday afternoon, and had a fantastic time. Our guide, Brian, was incredibly knowledgeable and funny, and went out of his way to make everyone have a great time. He was very friendly and seemed so enthusiastic about his job.

The main focus is celebrity deaths and infamous murders in the Hollywood area, intermixed with interesting facts about certain locations and a few celebrity houses. The restroom stop takes place at the public toilets where George Michaels was arrested! It was a funny photo opportunity and we were even provided with a copy of his arrest statement.

The tour took place in an enclosed mini van which was very comfortable. Overall it was a great day and I would definitely recommend it!
