“Old and new and endlessly interesting”
Reviewed January 12, 2012

Right in the middle of downtown, at the end of Hope Street, is one of the most vibrant public libraries in the country. There are gorgeous old murals and a modern new wing with three enormous and fanciful chandeliers. And there are nice, comfortable chairs where you can sit and read, or work, or use the public wi-fi. Or just watch the people. They also have frequent lectures. Recent budget cuts mean that it is not open on Sunday right now, but you can still sit in the garden and enjoy the view.

“Historic Library”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

The Los Angeles Public Library is a wonderful part of the city's history. Built in 1926, the Central Library is a downtown landmark and is one of the largest public libraries in the US. There are thousands of books! Be sure to bring your camera as the architecture is stunning.

“Take the tour, you will love it”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

We went to the main branch of the Los Angeles Public Library after taking a downtown tour with laconservancy.org. We enjoyed the library tour even more than the tour we paid for. It was just fabulous to be in the building. It made me want to get a library card. There are so many changes to libraries - they have computers and things to borrow other than books. It was a don't miss. The tour was no charge. The motivation to read was also free. Enjoy!

“May 2005 Visit to LA for the day lead us to the Library”
Reviewed December 17, 2005

What a great library in LA. We toured Hollywood and did some sightseeing and had time before we took Amtrak back to san Diego so we checked out the Library.
