Different and imaginative Latin food by a well known chef. For the prices, however, the portions could have been somewhat larger. I had a delicious chicken dish, served over black beans, but there was only one piece for $30. The decor of the restaurant itself was very nice, modern and dark so as to be romantic. Try if you wish good Latin food, but be sure to order an appetizer, too!

Went there before a concert at nearby Staples Center. They were packed but accommodating when we had to delay our reservation due to traffic. In spite of being slammed, the staff did a good job being attentive and not making us feel rushed. We ordered a series of small plates, which ranged from good to excellent. We also ordered the Barbacoa and Blood Sex Sugar Magic drinks - both of which were fun/interesting, but I preferred the latter. The dishes we ordered included the tortillas, ceviche and soft-shelled crab, all of which were good but not amazing. The stuffed peppers were very good, as was the lamb plate. Overall, I would definitely go back.

We had dinner for three on a Thursday evening. We had early reservations and tried to move them a bit later due to a busy day. Although they couldn't accommodate us at first, the host called back an hour later and was able to meet us in the middle. Our waiter was a bit stiff at first but warmed up nicely. Loved the snails, soft shell crab, feijoda and sou vide pork among others. Probably best Latin food we have had in the States. Design is very modern but inviting. It does get a bit loud even early in the bar/kitchen room so ask for a table in the back if you want quiet. Also food can come out of the kitchen quick so ask them to pace things. And portions are not huge, but we were quite full with one small plate and one main per person.

Rivera's staff and excellent food made for a great ending of a long work week. The staff was very attentive to our 16 guests as we ate around the Red Dragon table. The menu was unique and the food was wonderfully prepared. A great dinning experience all around! This restaurant is a gem and is hidden behind the Luxe! Creative, unique, and stellar service! THANKS!

It is an incredible place. It is where food meets art. The ideas are fresh and yet traditional, the execution flawless, the the presentation pure artistry. Many of the plates are presented with food paintings that is part of the flavor combination. I can begin to list them but I will cover a few highlights. The corn tortilla imbedded rose petals and guacomole was fabulous. The red peppers stuff with Gruyere and chorizo was perfection. The tamale of pork belly and muchroom was super complex and came with a painted plate. The main course of beet tenderloin with patatas bravas also came on a large white plate with a picture of a bull painted with parprika. The chocolate cake also came on a large plate this time with "Xocolata" spelled in cocoa. The coffee is to die for. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. When not, they stood corrected and were happy that they learned. The wine list is excellent with all Spanish and South American choices. I was told that this was one of the two places in LA that one could get Jamon Iberico, the top end naturally cured ham of Spain. The mixologist at the bar is also top notch. There isn't anything to not like about this place. I have read a few comments about he staff not courteous. I did not encounter that even to the slightest. Prices are up there but the quality is high.
