“Dim Sum "OK", but the service sucks...”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

Over the past 30+ years we've gone to the Golden Dragon for Sunday Dim Sum. Yes, there are better places (e.g. Empress Pavilion, Capitol Seafood), but the central location (Chinatown), familiarity and being open at 10am, still favor it slightly with some family members (as with this visit). But, oh how this place has gone downhill... Everything had a grungy film on it, the tables, seats, condiment containers, carpets, everything needs a thorough cleaning! The food was greasy as ever (actually a plus), but the portions seem just a tad smaller. The blackbean spareribs (my favorite), sat upon a base of melon (or some type of gourd). Previously, it used to be pure spareribs. Anyway, the steamed pork buns were smaller than I remember. The one thing that didn't seem to have changed much were the Siu Mai (pork/shrimp dumplings). However, the shrimp content has decreased, but that does not bother me personally. Finally, the service was worse than is typical (smaller wait staff).

So, the overall experience was blah. Best to head to the many other Dim Sum places if you are going to put up with the wait, noise and everything else that goes with the Dim Sum experience.

“A treat for all your senses.....”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

Get ready for a foreign experience at the Golden Dragon in Los Angeles. Lunch time is a must for the Char Siu Bao (bet you can't eat just one) and Sui Mai (baptize with hot mustard and soy sauce)....oh, you'll reach out for other delightful dim sum...relax while sippping hot tea. The 'ceremony' of partitioning off the room with room dividing panels brings back happy childhood memories of lunches with Grandpa. The bonus is free parking next door..but don't forget to tip the attendant.

“Always Satisfied”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a kid, so maybe 35+ years. Nice next door free parking. Huge inside with rarely a wait. Bar inside for adult drinks. I go with my family and take the in-laws every now and then for dim sum. Old school place with great prices and great tasting food.

“Best dimsum around!”
Reviewed June 23, 2011

Love the dimsum and have been coming here for 10 years now. Great food at a good price. Interior could definitely use some upgrading, though, but excellent service always. Free valet parking is an added bonus, as it's very hard to find street parking.
