I stayed here for 4 nights in the middle of December. Some pros and cons...
~The guy working the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful. He pulled out a map of the area and gave me travel tips/advice.
~The hotel is right up the road from the metro. If you don't have a car, this is probably your best choice of Los Angeles hotel. I went EVERYWHERE using the metro system - from downtown L.A to Pasadena. This hotel is one metro stop away from Hollywood and Highland, so you can shop and explore the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The only thing is, if you're going downtown like I did, the metro ride is quite long. Be prepared for that.
~I loved the outdoor pool area with the twinkling fairy lights and palm trees everywhere. It was really lovely.
~Cute little laundry area with travel brochures and vending machines.
~Everything was clean enough.
~It has WiFi and I never really had a problem with it running too slowly or anything.
~I didn't really like this area. It didn't feel very safe, particularly at night, with homeless people and shady characters wandering around (just being honest). To walk back to the hotel from the metro, you have to pass this little shopping complex that has a grocery store (Ralph's, I think it was) and it felt a lot like walking through a dark alley. I didn't like that part.
~The room was shockingly small. The pictures aren't very representative of just how small the room is. The bathroom was tiny, as well.
~I think there was some kind of construction going on next door, but there was lots of pounding throughout the day.
~No breakfast, so if you're a free breakfast kind of person, that's out.
~I couldn't figure out how to turn on the TV. Turns out the light switch has to be on. He said it had something to do with the age of the building.
~It all felt kind of run-down.
~Cell reception is not great.
Basically, I'd recommend this hotel to someone who just wants a place to sleep and maybe a place to swim, and who isn't renting/bring a car. If you're someone who likes luxury, don't stay here. My mom is a luxury hotel kind of girl and she didn't like this hotel. I'm an in-between kind of girl, and I thought it was average. I definitely would've liked more space and to feel safer.
