“Crazy good flavors!”
Reviewed September 1, 2014

Shared a couple of appetizers...wow...and the pizza...the mussels...the butterscotch pot de crème...oh my! Must try it...worth the wait!!! Almost gave up, but would have missed one of my fav meals and flavors. There is a walk up window and little shaded sitting area...but I recommend a table. The olive and cheese area is a busy show in itself! Food artists!

I recently ate lunch here..... Although the food was actually ok, the noise level inside was deafening, the service was extremely slow, and the food portions were very small. The seats inside were also extremely uncomfortable. The outdoor patio in the back of the restaurant might be better... but I won't be coming back here.

“fun place”
Reviewed September 1, 2014

Hot, trendy, busy and extremely good service. Peach and burrata is a must. Also make reservation long before going, otherwise hard to get in. Got special sweet treatment, because our car had been broken at the beach just before we went to dinner, thanks, appreciate it.

“Terrible Service, Mediocre Food”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 via mobile

Where do I start, the terrible, indifferent service or the sad mediocre food.

First, We live in LA proper and enjoy dining out. Our must eat places in LA include Republique, Sugarfish, Animal, Ink, Pizzeria Mozza, Chispacca, Aframe, Son of a Gun to name just a few that are miles and miles better than this spot at the same price range.

Our friends in manhattan beach love this place and got us a gift card, so we drove an hour down to use it. The best thing about this place is location, on Abbott Kinney in Venice. Nice stores around.

We arrived at 5:25pm for our 5:30pm reservation. The restaurant is half empty inside and totally empty outside. Hostess told us our table is not ready and to stand and wait along the wall (we can't sit at the bar tables to wait even though it's empty because those are for walk in!) They suggest we order a drink while we wait, but no one came to take our drink order and when I walked towards the bar, which is in front of the prep station, waiters told me to go back to the wall since I'm blocking service. No drink and 15 mins later, they seat us at one of the 10 empty tables that's been empty since we walked in!!!!!

The food is overall consistently under seasoned and undercooked. Except for the pizza which was crazy salty. Also, no salt and pepper at the table, asked but they never did bring.

Pizza: burnt blisters on edge (beyond char) and bottom is barely cooked. Go to Stella Barra or Mozza for real pizza.

Fries: salt and pepper frites had no Salt or pepper that I can see or taste. Fries are however from fresh potatoes. Go to Republique for crazy good fries.

Crispy purple potatoes: Smothered with sauce so not crispy, but not sure it would have been anyways since they were barely cut. I would call this baked potato.

Octopus: the largest tentacle I have ever eaten, it cooked and not chewy, but not crispy and no flavor. The accompanied beans were sad. Go to Salt, Oil, Smoke for a superior version.

Crudo: 5 thin slices of fish. Needs salt and lemon. Go to Son of a Gun instead.

Okra: this was by far the best dish all night. But nothing unique.

The one plus is food comes out quickly since they want to turn the tables quickly. So $150 later (just the right amount from the gift card) and we're out of here and won't be back.

If you're already in Venice, might be worth your time. But then, you probably can't get in since they're always packed and booked at least a month in advance.

We just have no idea what all the rave is about but maybe if there aren't a lot of choice in the neighborhood, you get this very complacent, uninspired and uncaring food.

This place is here to make money and they can care less about the food or dining experience. So go at your own risk.
