Like a number of reviewers here, I stayed at the Liberty while they were in the midst of their renovations. I was stunned when I entered the lobby and even more so when I saw the upstairs hallway. And our room was a stunner as well. However, we were moved to a renovated room after the first night, which was a thousand times better. Although I definitely felt I should have gotten some kind of discount due to the conditions during my stay, now that it's been renovated, I think would stay here again.

This hotel , is simple, but clean , nice and really not fancy but easy to stay. The top of the top , is where the hotel is located, exactly in the strategic Hollywood place, with free parking and nice management team. The price is really good for the type of stay and really good if we take time to see where we are in los Angeles. The breakfast is basic and standard but enough for a French guy.
We stayed a minimum of 5 times in the last 10 years and never be unhappy. Nice place cool hotel, nice team.

First off, they are renovating this hotel (which we were unaware of when we booked it). We walked in and had an absolute look of horror on our faces...boxes everywhere, dust galore, power tools on the floor. We couldn't even wheel our suitcases through the halls without bashing into stuff. Also, there's no elevator, so if you're on the 2nd floor, you have to carry your suitcases up there. We were greeted by a worker at the desk. Never once did he apologize for the mess or the inconvenience of having junk all over the lobby floors. He acted like it wasn't even there which was odd and off putting. He attempted to print our receipt and after a few failed attempts, he gave up. When we walked into our room, we had about 10 boxes of light bulbs on our chairs/desk. Someone came running in behind us and took them out. We were then approached by the owner. She welcomed us and then informed us that we had the "newly renovated room" and had the nerve to immediately ask us to "give it a good review online because they're all bad." The accessories in the room were cute and the mirror was pretty. There were no comforters on the beds which we thought was kind of unusual. We noticed black hairs on our beds (I have blonde hair) and my friend had stained sheets. We stayed for 6 days and never once were our bed sheets changed. Our beds were made with the same stained sheets. We had to reuse our towels, too. We ran out of toilet paper and there were no tissues in the room. The maids were in our room making our beds with dirty sheets, they couldn't toss an extra roll of toilet paper in there? The shower was spacious, but was scalding hot. Even when it was turned to cold, we came out absolutely sweating. There's no microwave in the rooms but there is a small refrigerator in there. We put some leftover food and bottled water in there. Opened it up to find that our water was frozen and we had ice and frost on our food. Also, we had maintenance men come to our room three times during our stay (that we knew of!). We were phoned by the desk once saying that he was coming to fix something and it "would only take a minute." We politely said that we weren't dressed and didn't want him coming up. Not even two minutes later, someone was banging on our door. I assumed it was the maid and opened it to find two men at our door. We again said that it wasn't a good time (we were in pajamas and no bras) but they pushed their way in and fixed it anyways. We awkwardly sat in our beds and covered ourselves with our sheets. We felt completely violated and unsafe that these men could overpower us at any time. That was the absolute final straw. We will NEVER stay here again. Go across the street to the Celebrity Hotel. Staff was really helpful and nice and the room was clean! Same great location. This hotel was on "Hotel Impossible" and the owner should NOT own a hotel. Terrible, terrible.

This place is a nightmare, mostly for the planet due to the running faucets of precious resource of clean water, not to mention a guest. Room is stinky. Wires exposed. etc. etc. Criminal management. Burn it down.

Was aware of mixed reviews before booking so wasn't expecting great things... But was disappointed when rooms smelled of damp, had mould and stains in the bathroom, no towels, holes in the blinds, had not been cleaned properly, dirty carpets and there was dust and bits on the stairs due to the works along with piles of supplies left in the reception area. On the plus side it really is a fabulous location, and the staff were friendly. The price was much cheaper than anything else local... and though works were going on there was no noise at night. I wouldn't recommend though, all round pretty grim and not a very nice start to our tour of US West Coast.

In 6 weeks of traveling this was by far the worst hotel (and one of the most expensive) we stayed at. The bed sheets were stained, blood on the walls, mould throughout room and bathroom, tacky furnishings, no opening windows, exposed wires, blinds that wouldn't shut (no privacy), badly dripping shower and an absolutely filthy shower curtain.
The room had an awful mouldy, chemical smell that would not go away.

The tongue on our door lock was very sticky and got stuck every time we opened the door so the door wouldn't even stay shut.. Everytime we left/entered the room, we had to go to the front desk and ask them to send someone to 'fix' it for us. It was the only lock on the door (which looked like it had been kicked down a few times) and there was no extra security chain. We definitely did not feel safe staying here.

The hallway was also so full of boxes, mattresses etc from the renovations that we couldn't even wheel our suitcases through - and don't even get me started on the amount of dust!!
I can not comment on the breakfast as we were so disgusted by the cleanliness of the hotel we refused to eat there.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - especially for the price!

The Hotel was undergoing refurbishment (which we weren't informed about on check-in), so there was buiding materials, plaster dust and boxes EVERYWHERE!
The girl on the desk was pleasant enough, but our room was awful!
Mould on the ceiling of bathroom, marks in the bath, torn flyscreen, exposed wiring, stains on spare pillows with no covers, furniture was a mishmash of whatever they could throw together, close to a half inch gap in the door and a noisy air con.
Great location BUT really need to lift their standards. We checked out and stayed elsewhere
