“Photos can be deceiving”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

This Hotel is deceiving. The Photos they post make it seem nicely remodeled but keep in mind it is a 1914 built building and is small and small bathrooms, no AC, nasty place. BUT the worst part is it’s in the slums of Venice Beach where all the bums hang out, Cops patrolling constantly because Bums live outside the doors of the Hotel and surrounding areas. Not safe, not a place for family, kids, romance. All in all a terrible experience. $15 parking fee and $3 internet fee. Gross, wouldn't make this mistake. We stayed here for a bachelor party and were just truly disappointed, I would never bring my wife here.

the member of staff who checked us in was probably the rudest person I encountered on my trip to LA - not a great first impression.

hotel parking is quiet pricey, beds werent very comfortable and the lighting in the room was horrific for getting ready in. also, the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms... and i mean everything!

the hotel is located right on the beach, but we werent big fans of it and ended up going to Hermosa after just 1 night.

Me and my wife have been vacationing in Los Angeles for many years. This was the first time to stay beachfront since our honeymoon in Cozumel, mx. I love Venice beach and the whole west side of Los Angeles. The Cadillac is a definite stop in the future as it exceeded my expectations. We stayed in the queen ocean room on the top floor. It had the perfect view anytime of day and to make it even better out corner window was right over the boardwalk intersection below. The only wish I have I'd that they would take full advantage of there roof top views and build a bar or something. I still think about the beautiful sunsets and the nice tandem bike ride to the Santa Monica pier we experienced together. Oh did I say I LOVE LA.!! Golf wang, OFWGKTA, SWAG, oh yea..... THUNDER UP!!

Okay first of all to dispute the bad reviews......its a building that has been standing for nearly 100 years. Appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere Cadillac brings....you're staying in a hotel that is 100 years old. When it was built A/C was a luxury if it was even an option, so no it has no A/C, open the window and feel the breeze, its better than A/C. Our room was perfect for a couple and I can see why people complained about the small rooms for a family....its probably not suited for a family. The hotel is in a great location right on the beach, walk out the door and up the boardwalk. Parking is tight but available....and for those that said they were not informed of the $15 per day parking permit have never read fine print, duh! It said it in my confirmation, it said it on the hotel website, and the desk clerk highlighted it on my signature form. Also the WiFi is also clearly explained $3 per day....+14% taxes, so those that complained are not reading all the details plus have no understanding of taxes added on at the end of your stay. The hotel area itself was very safe, for those not used to homeless people, I can see where you may freak out, they mean well, they are people too and would like to be treated as such. Its not everyones lifestyle and they are not asking you to live it, get up and get over it. If your from small town you may be offended.....go somewhere else they dont need your close minded attitude. Is the Cadillac a luxury hotel, no. But I didnt want the hilton, I wanted a beach bum atmosphere. Cadillac Hotels lobby was very nice with coffee, a pool table and a tv (by the way there is no coffee maker in the room, yet another thing mentioned on the hotel website that a lot overlooked)....the room overall cozy and comfortable. Clean sheets clean floor clean bathroom, for those that complained on cleanliness has never stayed at a roadside motel next to a trailer park in ghetto Oklahoma. The bad reviews on here had me seriously concerned that I made a bad choice in hotel, but it was exactly what I wanted and expected from the research I did. From the moment I walked through the door it was magic. The rooftop, is a rooftop, just a place to hang out, no its not a luxury patio....those are down the way at the more posh places....for a lot more money per night. I didnt spend that much time up there...because I was on the boardwalk enjoying the atmosphere....the view up there is great...too bad it was cloudy which didnt give me my perfect sunset.....but I know where to stay when I come back and that is Cadillac hotel.

Do your research...it helps and you may learn something interesting, like a piece of history.

My only complaint is there was not a fridge in our room but there was in others, we stayed one night so no big deal, if you stay longer request a room with a fridge. Otherwise get over it.

Room Tip: If you really want a view ask for it, I never heard any music with the exception of a saxaphone play...

I stayed here two nights 20 years ago and found Venice Beach to be quite a fascinating place. It's still fascinating but is now shared with countless homeless people sitting and laying hither and fro. If this bothers you, don't come. Now, about the hotel:

First the good.: 1. The hotel was right on the beach and the ocean walk. 2. I was upgraded at no cost to the "Ocean Suite" from the " Ocean Queen". ( from a hotel room to a one bedroom suite). 3. The unit was recently remodeled. 4. The bed and matress was quite comfortable. 5. The shower was nice. Now the bad: 1. No stopper in the bathroom sink and an improperly installed sink aerator spraying water. 2. Missing knob on a kitchen cabinet. 3. No chairs in the unit. Only a (fake) leather love seat. 4. Bad stains on the carpet. 5. No coffee maker. 6. Only one remote control for two TVs. 7. No stools at the kitchen eating counter. 8. Loud music with a constant thumping from the retail unit below. Fortunately, it stopped about 7:00 PM. My comment to the desk clerk about this was met with indifference,

I would not bring children here.

Room Tip: Request a room in the front of the building but not on the second floor.

I spent the evening with my two Sons, to have a great family night, and to enjoy the beautiful sunset and being within walking distance of all that Venice has to offer.

The Cadillac Hotel is a gem! Jeff and his team do a great job of making a home away from home.

You are stepping into history when you stay at the Cadillac Hotel. Charlie Chaplin himself used to spend weeks at a time here at the Cadillac, and one look out the window at sunset tells you why... There is nothing like a sunset at the Cadillac. They have brought great modern amenities to each of the rooms... There is a great gathering area to the left of the lobby to sit and chat, great Starbucks coffee in the morning and so close to so many great restaurants.

Enjoy your stay at the Cadillac... Great folks and a great place to stay!

We stayed for 2 nights and used it as a base to explore Loas Angeles and the coast. we had a a great time, we got to watch the sunset from the roof, the hotel was right on the beach and Moses on the desk was fantastic to us.
