We had booked another Hostel originally but when we saw it after driving into LA at 3:00 am it wasn't what we expected.

So after our great time at the USA Hostel in San Francisco we had grabbed their card and got the number for their hostel in LA.
We called them up and they were very accommodating and took us in at 3:00 am with no reservation and smiles.

It ended up being the perfect Hostel for us. Great location (5 minute walk from the Chinese Theatre and shopping), great staff, and great rooms. We were split up with two girls in one room and our guy friend in another but no one minded and our room had a few other very nice girls in it and our guy friend echoed the same feelings about his room.

We met some great people there from New Zealand who we hung out with and drank some beers with on the Hostel's patio one night, also ended up being a big club night so we all had a good time watching all the Halloween costumes in LA. (We were there the weekend of Halloween)

I would recommend this Hostel highly, I left with amazing memories and a great time had there.
My only minor problem was there's a mail distribution center right behind the hostel that started working at 6 am each morning and was very loud, but I bet if you had a room closer to the front desk you wouldn't hear a thing.

This hostel is very centrally located just off the Hollywood Boulevard and is easily accessed by public transport. A real plus is they refund your public transport tickets when you arrive if you are staying four nights or more. The hostel is fairly average with a small kitchen and eating area and a lounge upstairs which doubles as a pub / entertainment venue. The staff are very helpful and tours / trips are offered at reasonable prices as well as a free shuttle to Santa Monica beach. A down side is though that the lay out of the hostel may not make it easy to get a good nights sleep particulary if a party is taking place in the upstairs lounge.

We stayed two nights in a private room at this hostel. The staff were very unfriendly. Our room was reasonably pleasant and very clean. However, it was very hot and the fan was pretty uneffective. We didn't expect peace and quiet in a youth hostel but the noise here is unbelievable. There was a speaker right outside our door that played terrible music very loudly all day and into the early morning. We got it turned slightly down at midnight and finally off at two am after multiple requests. The staff are pretty rude and unhelpful. The next night we were kept up till four in the morning by drunk people in the corridor and kitchen.

The hostel is in an excellent location but only stay here if you are after a party base and don't need more than a few hours sleep.

Please note that i have travelled around the world and always stayed in hostels and this was the worst i have ever experienced.
The staff were rude and at the weekend brought their mates in to sit in reception drinking and intimidating guests.
Safe Ha! there was 5 of us and not one of us was asked to see our key in reception.
The room when we arrived had not been cleaned and there was dirty items left on the floor from previous guests.
Our room was right at reception and the staff played blaring loud music all night keeping us all up and when asked at 5am to lower it they simply replied in a rude manner and hired up the music. Then the music went off at 8am only to come on again blaring at 8.30am every morning. The manager was always on a break or never there so trying to resolve any issues was useless.
There were problems checking in, during our stay and checking out and we were not the only ones.
Alot of people got ripped off with their deposit for their keys etc.. This place is more expenisve then the rest of the hostels in LA. The other hostels when we arrived were booked out and this was the only one that was available now i know why.
if you are 18 -23 and want to party all night, sleep all day and are happy for the staff to be rude to you and organise your life when you are here then this is the place for you. Everyone else stay away... you have been warned.

I only stayed here two nights but I think it was a decent hostel. Great atmosphere, excellent location (close to the metro station Hollywood/Vine) and good value for your money. Felt like a safe place with lockers in the dormroom. Great that I was able to store my luggage for the day after I'd checked out. Not so clean (some bugs in the bathroom I shared with seven other girls), but apart from that it was a good place to sleep if you're not too fussy and squeamish and just looking for a fun place to lay your head. Would probably go back here next time I'm in LA.
