After a rain event or wind storm, one should make a 'bee-line' to the Griffith Park Observatory and city park. You will get a beautiful panoramic view of the LA basin and if you're lucky, you may see Catalina Island (some forty miles away). The observatory is well worth spending some time inside, but beware, it didn't open till noon when we visited. But the best part are all the trails in and around the park, which is especially good after the air has been 'cleansed' by the rain & wind.
