“Great views”

Loved the views of all of Los Angeles. Great photo ops. Inside the Observatory, lots of interesting things. We didn't go to the Planetarium, but would love to go back and see it.

“Do not miss this when in LA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Griffith Observatory is a must-see when in Los Angeles. Even if you aren't interested in space and science, the views alone make it worth a visit. You get an excellent view of the Hollywood Hills (including a great view of the Hollywood sign) and downtown LA.

There are also exhibits inside the observatory for those interested in learning a little about astronomy and space. While there aren't a ton of exhibits, the ones they do have are informative and worthwhile.

There are also hiking trails around the observatory if you are interested in that. While a visit to Griffith probably won't fill your whole day, you'll be very glad you stopped by.

For those who don't know, I'll end by saying that it is completely FREE to visit Griffith. In an expensive city like Los Angeles, anything free is a welcome surprise!

“Spectacular drive up”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

A great family day out away from the buzz of the city. Anyone interested in science and the stars will be blown away by everything this place has to offer. Although busy, you are free to wonder and take your time exploring everything there was to offer.
The views were amazing, and so worth going up to see. We even enjoyed the pretty drive up to the top. Most of it was free so you're not dipping into your pocket every two minutes. There was the obligatory shop, but then it is always nice to take away some little souvenir of the day.
Well done LA it's a real gem!

“A LA must experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

If you are a native Angeleno and have not yet been to the Griffith Observatory.... wow! What can I say, other than... you have something cool waiting for you. Inexpensive and high impact. Give yourself about 3 hours, from the time you arrive and park at the bottom of the hill. (Not to worry, they have frequent shuttles to take you to the top of the hill).

Once you get to the top, you will be awed by the panoramic views of Los Angeles. It's worth just taking a few minutes to take it all in. Gives you a better perspective on the sprawling metropolis that we call home.

Inside, there is something for everyone. Kids love this. Lots of multimedia, interactive diddles to keep them bedazzled. Plenty of space, indoors, so foot traffic flows pretty well. Keeps it from feeling too chaotic.

Take in the dome show and if you are able, go to the observatory up top. Both worth the effort.

Pretty decent cafes with offerings for both children and adults.

Worth the effort.

If you are passionate about Science or just interested and curious, you must visit the Observatory. There are so many interesting things inside and you can watch the moon using their telescope. The view is breathtaking. The best you could find in LA and you get an excellent view of the Hollywood sign. It' s def. one of my favorite spots in LA. And Parking is free
