The view of LA is fabulous, and the exhibits are pretty neat. We paid the $7 each to see the planetarium show which was fun. Worth a couple of hours' visit.

The view from the observatory is fabulous and gives a great view of the Hollywood sign. It's also a fascinating place to visit!

There is always something going on here. You can see downtown LA and the Hollywood sign. Then, going in, you can see the stars, real and computerized. Great exhibits for the kids (even the grown-up ones). Eat lunch in the cafe, food is great! (A little crowded, tho'.)

This was on the bucket list. Building has been beautifully restored. The exhibits are well done - especially the new underground exhibit space. Enjoyed one of the planetarium shows. Parking is probably challenging on a weekend. Include an early evening visit to watch the sun set over the Pacific and the view of the city lights.

the best place to view LA from above, almost from the birds view. go around the main building and see the streets below and the great park on the sides. this is also the closest place you can reach the Hollywood sign since it is all gated. the observatory (free) was very crowded but if you have the patience to see the displays they are very interesting. the Griffith park is also a beautiful area to take a hike but again, we came on a very crowded weekend and had to park a long way from the observatory parking lot and go up by foot.
