We went to the observatory with our kids. Is a great place to take photos, and to walk. Griffith park is adjacent and has many beautiful trails. Make sure you go to watch the sunset.

The Griffith Observatory is a great spot to check out for all ages. You can park down below and hike the hiking trails. Or you can try to park along the road or at the parking lot at the top of the hill. The summit is 1,600' and a good view if the good ol' LA smog is down. The Observatory is very friendly and educational. Get their early to avoid the crowds.

A great view and an interesting exhibition of astonomy-related topics. We didn't get a chance to use the telescope, but that would have been a great experience.

We visited the Griffith Observatory twice while in LA. The morning views of the Hollywood sign and surrounding area are great. We came back in the late evening to see the telescope. The place was so busy that we weren't able to look through the telescope, but we did get to experience all the wonderful demonstrations and exhibits. The night-time view of LA was great from up there as well. Highly recommend it.

Wonderful location and views. Great exhibits, demonstrations and planetarium. Very crowded in early evening when we visited - hard to park far away and walk a long distance, but worth the effort!
