“Great customer service!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I had booked our reservation through a third party and it had been mistakenly cancelled. There was a large convention going on that week so there were very few rooms vacant. We were quite worried not only about a room being available but also the price. Victor Caceras happened to be working at the front desk and promptly took care of everything. He gave us a comparable price and a beautiful room. His exceptional care and customer service turned what could have been a very unpleasant experience into a wonderful hotel experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you Victor. You are the kind of person that makes people want to come back to "your" hotel! Sincerely, Donna D

Downtown LA hotels seem to trade quality for the size of rooms. The recent renovation is nicely done. It seems they ran out of money or are waiting for a second phase for some of the smaller items, such as an alarm clock / radio that isn't from the 1990's as well as the book that shows you all the items available to you during your stay.

In spite of that, you will find a very relaxing stay within the property. Beds have a nice soft top while remaining firm and comfortable. The shower is very large, towels are soft (by hotel standards), the actual size of the room is massive. Yes the elevators could use some work (they seem to shake a bit while in them) but that’s not a big deal overall.

Food is very expensive here as is parking. Try parking in the second half (east side) of the World Trade Center structure across the street ($16/day) and plenty of food is available just a block or two away.

I'd give higher marks to the service/staff if it weren't for how they handled some false fire alarms during my stay. Otherwise, certainly a property worth staying at.

Room Tip: Want a quiet stay? Request a room facing 3rd street. Otherwise you'll face the freeway all night...

I spent 3 nights here in early June. My first room was on the 3rd floor with views of walls, air conditioning units, and trash. Further, I had no alarm clock, there was the start of a hole being cut in the top of the shower, and the on-demand movie function did not work on the TV. Not a great start.

After complaining at the front desk I was moved to the top floor where the room was in much better shape and the view was much better.

The restaurant in the hotel is good and has a great breakfast buffet and great servers.

Room Tip: Get a room on the upper floors and certainly not on the 3rd floor.

Stayed here for 6 nights.
Rooms are very comfortable since everything is new.
Lighting is very good and the bathroom is excellent.
There is free coffee in the room and a nice new flat screen tv.
I agree the cost of parking is steep and wi if should be free.
Didn't eat in the hotel but breakfast is expensive.
We found lots of restaurants in t he area and it was safe to walk around downtown in t he evening.

I stayed at this hotel when it was the Marriott Downtown - then it was tired and a bit run down. It needed updating.

That updating has now been carried out to the rooms as this hotel "transforms" into a Hyatt.

Works had been completed to the rooms, but the lobby still needs refurbishing. It's still a but stuck in the 1980s/90s. The rooms through are pure 2013 - great space, great views and nice new fixtures.

The hotel provided us with a comfortable stay for a long weekend - just what we needed.

The downtown location is not for everyone, but there is plenty to see and do within walking distance.

Internet was not free anywhere in the hotel - it should be! Walk across the street to the Westin Bonaventure and use the free internet in their lobby instead, or go to the Starbucks a few minutes walk away.

The other downside is the cost of parking - $36 per night valet only. This is the going rate for downtown even at weekends - the Westin charges more I think. I have tried using local parking lots including the World Trade Centre across the street, but it ends up working out much the same cost given the lack of in/out privileges.

I found the hotel on trivago for around £90 per night including tax and service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor away from the freeway

This hotel has gone through a major facelift and the rooms are really nice. for location you just can't beat it. If you bring a car park across the street and safe a bundle on overnight parking. this hotel is nice inside and the breakfast buffet is great. The pool area is right on the side of the highway so it is very loud with the sound of the highway. if you pick a room make sure it is on the opposite side of the highway as you can hear the traffic all night on the highway side. otherwise the rooms are very comfortable and staff are very good.

Room Tip: Stay on the opposite side of the highway

I stayed at the hotel for two nights while I was in town for business. The room was quite spacious although the decor is a bit old. I would love to see them renovate the rooms more and kind of update its decor. The bathroom was clean and had complete amenities. Most importantly I really appreciated how they let us check in early. This was so helpful especially after coming from a nearly 30 hour flight. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The concierge staff helped us book a tour the next day to see LA and gave us tips on where to find food in the area. Breakfast buffet is ok. Nothing spectacular. Waffles and omelette is nice. They can even do take away breakfasts for those in a morning rush.

Its a good hotel for a business traveler because of its convenient location to the CBD area.
