Great, interesting food, but I'd stick to the tacos. Service was fast, albeit abrupt and difficult to understand at moments.

I think it is a bit overrated but it is pretty good, just tad expensive for the food you get, like that soup which was what $4?

Chichen Itza might be the best Yucatan Mexican restaurant in LA. No border food here, this is Caribbean Mexican food, closer to Cuban food than what you'd get in Sonora or Mexico City.

Black beans are a staple, the Cochinita Pibil is amazing with a citric bite. Many of the dishes use a black bean puree also healthy doses of plantains, orange juice, achiote and spices of the Caribbean.

Some of the most unique Tamals in Los Angeles too, including a baked tamale.

It is an easy spot to get to from Downtown for lunch and from USC on game days.

This was one of the best meals out we've had in months - Chichen Itza is in a food court with a few other eateries for whom customers look to be mostly locals. Great fish, pork, I felt like steak. though in hindsight that was probably silly, it was Super yummy citrusy, with onions, rice plantains, tortilla, a few fried potatoes, black beans. We'll look to make sure to come hear next time we're in LA.

We really enjoyed our lunch from Chichen Itza. It is in a Mercado type food court, so you order at the counter and sit in a communal hall to eat. The food is authentic, fresh, tasty, and very reasonably priced. It is nice and close to the California Science Centre too, which is handy if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful lunch after a morning there.
