Classy Weekend getaway

Review of Hotel Bel-Air
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 29, 2019via mobile
Absolutely stunning grounds with lush green secluded in Beverly Hills. Service was up to standards of the price tag, luxury experience. We brought our dog too and he felt welcome and enjoyed himself, thanks for the dog treats and plush dog bed, we will be back in the future.

The Hotel Bel Air provides an experience for each of your senses I can only describe as suddenly discovering the finest of something—a DaVinci, a new succulent fruit, a lost work of Brahms, the finest silk. There are layers to each space and experience, so that I simply had to review and reflect on each moment to ensure I captured each facet. The serpentine road up to the entrance is surrounded by such a variety of lush trees and unique fauna, you want to drive slowly to take it in. The lobby offers one scent from glowing candles, and then as I’m taken to my room, each passageway provides another delicate aroma from the abundant flowers.

My room provided every modern convenience – from the Bang & Olufsen television to the master controls for every mechanical function on the phone. The marble bathroom’s gently heated floor was immense and of course offered another tv for the oversized tub. Thick sheets, fresh flora, decadent towels—everything was perfection.
And, you must get a bite in the bar to observe Alan shaking out a fabulous cadence with a touch of swing to make his handcrafted cocktails. He seemed to know every guest by name. In fact, every person I met seemed intent on making sure I felt more than welcome---like going to your own version of Oz.

There is nothing you feel like you couldn’t request—and with 24 hours for room service and fitness center, an expansive spa and grotto-like pool, I wasn’t sure I would ever want to leave. I had the occasion to take a short trip in the Hotel’s car service and was again amazed with the kindness and helpfulness of the driver.

Hotel Bel Air is uniquely superlative, not just in LA, but in the United States, in my opinion. Having traveled the country and the world for work and pleasure, I have never experienced anything quite so perfect. Come here to treat yourself, celebrate your love, or just to treasure life.

Room tip: Each room is uniquely perfect!

While this hotel is located in a swish residential area, it’s not hard to find with sat nav and of an evening there’s no real reason to leave. Theres a restaurant, nice bar and of course the plunge pool. You need a car to get about during the day though. And it’s valet only which is expensive.
Overall a lovely stay and feels pretty exclusive and luxurious.

Wife and I stayed three-nights at Hotel Bel-Air, making a long and leisurely weekend of a visit to Los Angeles. There are countless hotels in the LA area, many with distinguished reputations and providing excellent service, but Hotel Bel-Air exhibits these same qualities while also feeling more like an exclusive resort or private residence, which is unique. The grounds are impeccable, lush, walkable and the whole property itself seems like the destination more so than just a nice and luxurious home base while in the area. Service well lived up to its top-notch reputation, and we were very impressed with both the restaurant and bar offerings. High quality dining and service experience across the board. The one morning we chose room service, food arrived 15 minutes early and was setup on our private patio. Seriously, how often does room service show up early?!?! Pretty amazing!

A few constructive tips. All parking at Hotel Bel-Air is valet, which was quite expensive. I want to say it was $50/day or thereabouts. We knew this going in, so wasn't much of an issue for us since we had that expectation. Retrieval of your vehicle was fast and easy, and the valet staff were polite and very welcoming. Like I said, just something to know before you arrive. We booked through the American Express FHR program. We received complimentary breakfast for two each morning up to $75/room. Breakfast was a highlight at Hotel Bel-Air, but it's honestly kind of difficult to spend under this amount for two people by the time you add coffee, orange juice and maybe a side of protein to your breakfast selection. Our average daily breakfast bill was $100, and I don't feel like we over-ordered. We also received a $100 spa credit during our stay, which we used and would recommend. Unfortunately, we didn't receive a room upgrade. While not a guaranteed benefit, we thought one should have been extended. To the credit of Hotel Bel-Air, this matter was discussed and satisfactorily resolved with the hotel manager, who I can't say enough good things about.

This resort is very focused on guest experience and establishing themselves as one of the best hotels in the entire country, which I believe they are executing on. No hotel or property or anything in life is perfect, but Hotel Bel-Air genuinely strives to achieve that goal. We will be coming back to experience this exquisite property again.

I checked in Monday jan 28 I barley got any sleep due to a very loud cricket noise in the room. Around 3:30 am I called the front desk to let them know about the noise they sent maintainece to check out the problem. Unfortunately all they could offer me was ear plugs. Honestly it felt like I was sleeping in a jungle this hotel needs pest control or something. The noise stopped around 6am. Due to not being able to sleep my schedule for the whole day was canceled. Upon check out I spoke to Alec at the front desk and I played him the video I recorded of the noise in the room and explained to him how I wasn’t able to sleep and all he could tell me was to go head and book another room and that it will be a better room. Unconsiderete of the fact that I didn’t sleep at all. All this place care about is money they don’t care for your comfort. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I paid a lot of money to sleep with loud crickets . Oh and the way they approach white folks Vs African Americans is whole other topic I won’t get into. I wish there was an option to post video on here I would like to post the video of the noise.
After being so frustrated and fighting tears back talking to Alec he was able to offer me some of my money back that still wasn’t good enough.
