We got to the science center in the after lunch, and by closing we still hadn't seen it all. There were lots of hands on exhibits, which our kids love. Most of the time we were forcing them to move on to the next thing. They learned about flying, solar power, vehicle crash testing, electricity, car design, construction, river flow, how we hear, and we all played with the thermal imaging camera! Of couse we went to see the Endeavor shuttle. The video about transferring the shuttle from the airport to the museum was fascinating, so don't skip it. We just made it though about half the museum. We will be going back, the next time we have a stop over in LA.

I have always loves space travel, so of course I was going to visit the California Science Center. I saw the shuttle make its way through the streets of Inglewood, and returned to LA after the display was open at the CSC. I would recommend this to anyone in order to see a piece of history. The rest of the museum is decent too. I especially liked the touch pool outside, and the Extreme Zone, which shows how people, plants, and animals live in different environments (the desert, the arctic, etc.). Oh, and did I mention that the museum is free?

We checked this out months before visiting, and although the Science Center is a free attraction, the Space Shuttle Endeavour is by ticket only. We paid the very small booking fee online to ensure we got a viewing slot. We also booked in the afternoon as school trips tend to take place earlier in the day.
There was ample parking at the center which cost $10.
Next door is the LA Olympic Stadium, but unfortunately is not open to the public.
Lots of things to do and see and plenty of hands on exhibits for the younger generation.
Obviously the highlight of the show was the Space Shuttle Endeavour....What a machine!!!! This in no way detracts from the pre shuttle space missions with Apollo exhibits in the same building.
Truly a must see when in LA

The quality of this place is incredible. They have added the Endeavor which is really interesting (and will expand into an Aviation Museum in the coming years) but everything else is really good. They have habitat areas and an aquarium that is really well done. The life sciences section with the giant model of Tess is always worth a look. There are also many other science-related exhibits that one could spend hours visiting. Plus, the bookstore is fantastic. One of the nice things about this place is the fact that it is right next door to the LA Natural History Museum so you can do two incredible things without having to travel anywhere else. There are restaurants in both places and many other places to eat if you bring a lunch so very convenient for a day trip.

If you are in the area definitely go see Endeavour at the Science Center. The space exhibit is amazing and to see the shuttle in the holding area is truly amazing. You can see up close and it's well worth the extra time to go through. Kids will really enjoy it as well as adults.
