We really enjoyed it, all the family specially kids, the shows, the characters, the meals, you have many choices, from fast food to fancy restaurants.
We love Blue Brothers, the music, the jazz.
To enjoyed it more, I advise to arrive early when they open the park, not many people at that hour, you can get the tour ride for the studios, later the line was very long.

We visited Universal Studios as a family of 4 on a Saturday in late June 2013. The entry lines were long, the heat intense and the shade non -existent. Part of the reason for this was that the ticket sellers had clearly been instructed to "up sell" the entry tickets. It was not enough that one should already have to pay $84USD per person to gain entry ( which, as a non-ride goer who only enters to supervise children is bad enough- a problem with theme parks throughout the world....) but one could not enter without first being subject to a sales pitch enticing one to pay double ( yes, double) for a VIP pass...Go to the front of the queue, avoid the lines....What ever happened to equal rights and opportunity for all???? And how many people can afford to just fork out double the entry fee at the drop of a hat??
The park itself was crowded and exposed with long long lines for everything, including the overpriced and limited food ( but this is the same with these style of theme parks everywhere in the world). The rides were, according to my teenage sons, OK but, compared with the Australian equivalents ( Dreamworld/ Movieworld) nothing to write home about.

Arrive when the park opens, it is much less crowded. I bought the "fast pass" which was worth it once lunch time rolled around. Loved the "back lot tour" and Transformers ride. Everything was great. The Beverly Garland is close and offers free shuttle service to Universal.

Visiting Universal studios is really amazing experience!!
Few tips, visit early in morning by 8-9 am. Taking "First of line" pass really saves lot of time and standing in line. All rides \ shows get crowded on weekends, pass comes handy in that case. It's better to be in first bus boggy of studio tour, so that you can hear clearly to the announcer, there will be lot of noise in second and third bus.
Don't miss transformer 3D ride it's the best ... enjoy !!

We did the VIP tour July 2013. Our guide Sami was fabulous. Even though we were early the VIP staff took us to a private area for breakfast. Yummy pastries, fruit salad and coffee on a much needed air conditioned balcony. We visited in peak time and $300 we paid for our passes were worth their weight in gold when we passed hour long queues to go on the rides. My ride hating boyfriend loved the transformer ride and Jurassic park was great to cool down. After a 5 star lunch with views to match we hopped upon the vip bus watching 100s of people board a long trolley to sit on for the entire back stage tour. Going back stage for us meant walking around sets and checking out the war of the worlds plane and houses close up. Front of line tickets looked good too but for a stress and waiting line free day book VIP for sure.
