Loved, loved, loved this place! The VIP experience is fantastic value for money and gives you access to areas not accessible with just the regular entry. Our tour guide Tony was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is extremely clean and a great day out for kids and adults!

The studio experience is better than that in Orlando, in fact take the rollercoasters out of Orlando and Hollywood is a million times better.

First, I would like to preface this by saying that we came at a very slow time of year so we had no wait on any of the rides except for the main tour. With that being said, the rides are phenomenal but very short so as great as they were, if I had to wait for an hour to go on any of these "experiences", I would not have been happy. The highlights of the whole park are the main studio tour (by far the longest thing to do and excellent), the Transformers 3D ride and the Simpsons Krustyland ride. To avoid echoing everything else let me just indulge you with a few tips to make your stay more pleasant:

1). Come off-season and on a weekday - no lines especially early in the day
2). Pay the extra $5 dollars for the preferred parking- gets you MUCH closer.
3). Be there for when the park opens
4). Go to the lower level and hit all the coveted thrill rides first and you won't have to wait
5). If you are coming on a weekday in a slow season, don't let them talk you into getting a "front of the line pass" because you will feel like an idiot paying an extra $49 when you more than likely will not have to wait for most attractions anyway.
6). The food is expensive and the park is geared to lure you into spending a lot of money on various games and other things - just so you are aware, not a complaint.
7). Plan on this being the only thing you do that day.

My only trivial complaint:
I'm a huge Blues Brothers fan and anxiously awaited the look-a-likes doing a blues show. Maybe it was because it was late in the day and they had done so many performances already, but the show was mediocre at best. I wasn't expecting an Oscar-worthy performance - their voices were decent but they just looked tired and had little fire and energy. They looked bored doing their own dance routines and I couldn't even stay for the whole thing.

We booked the VIP package. Initially we were a bit hesitant as it was expensive but now we are so glad we booked it,. It was totally worth it.. We were definitely treated like a celebrity. Reserved seating everywhere and also straight entry into any ride or show. Very good lunch with an impressive selection of food. Our guide Donna was very good, very informative. The back of Studio tour was very good. If you are going to see Universal Studios, this is the way to do it.

The weather on the day of our visit wasn't great with rain causing a power cut toward the end of the day. Thank goodness for our front of line pass which allowed us to pack everything in. Head for the studio tour first as it really is the best part. There is a good variety of shows - but you can give Waterworld a miss! It was good to be able to wander around the shops afterwards and there was a good selection of restaurants. Been there and done it!
