We recently visited Universal Studios on our visit to Hollywood. My son had been wanting to visit a Universal park for YEARS! I had been to Orlando several times, but my kids had never been to one of the parks.

The crowds were light since this is the off-season. We did get the "Front of the Line" passes, which were great...although probably not terribly necessary since the wait for rides was much lighter this time of the year.

We rode all of the main attractions - Transformers, Jurassic Park, Mummy, Studio Tour, etc. and enjoyed all of them. However, there didn't seem to be much more to do there unless you wanted to go in/out of the various stores, shops, etc. We did enjoy seeing all of the characters walking around, and there was much more access to them for pictures than at other parks such as Disneyland.

Having been to Universal Orlando, there just seems to be more to do there. The studio tour is broken into multiple attractions in Orlando...which is more fun! There are more attractions and just seems like more to do.

The one thing that we really liked (and the have the same in Orlando) is the City Walk. It is a great area filled with all kinds of restaurants. If you do not want to have typical "theme park food", then I highly recommend visiting the City Walk.

Overall, we had fun, but it is very pricey for what it has to offer.

After going on the new TRANSFORMERS 3D ride just before this one (which is AMAZING), Jurassic Park seemed tame and old-hat by comparison - slightly plastic dinosaurs spraying water at you! The final plunge down the waterfall is fun but short! Younger children will probably still enjoy it. As it says, you WILL get soaked, but we were so hot that this was very welcome!

Here for one day at the end of Route 66 tour.
Husband not keen to come here but had a good time.Thought he'd be bored after a couple of hours and was quiet suprised at the end of 6+ hours that it was time to go !!!

House of Horrors closed........I was really sorry to see this, as I bet it was good. Shrek 3D was great. The spider caused a lot of screaming!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of behind the scene things to see. The tour of the "lots" is really good, also the Animal Trainer bit is good, also the Special Effects Stage.

Go see The Blues Brothers, they really are great.

Due to back problems I was not able to do any of the rides.Queues didn't seem too long for those that did.

You can get "hand stamp" and go out to the shopping street, lots af places to eat here.

Good day out.

The VIP tour is well worth the extra dollars. We had a group of 16 and were greeted with tea/coffee/pastries etc. We had a private trolley car tour of the backlot which was much more extensive than the backlot tour with general admission. First of all it was timed so there were no other groups to be seen, secondly we got off the car and walked around both indoor and outdoor set locations including walking up Wisteria Lane. We also were shown through the prop warehouse which was great. Following the backlot tour our guide took us to all the rides, skipping the line, before dropping us off at our lovely buffet lunch. Our guide was fabulous, holding bags for the whole group whilst we went on rides and handing out poncho's for the Jurrasic park ride. We met back up again after lunch where our guide had arranged for us to see all the shows perfectly timed and with reserved prime viewing seating. After this (about 5pm) we free to revisit any rides, once again skipping the lines. The VIP tour is set up so that you see everything in the park in the most efficient way + get the extra's in the backlot tour+ no lines at all!! The rides are ok, not as good as the Gold Coast theme parks, but as our guide said they are about the movies not the rides. Highly reccomend the VIP tour.
