“Lively and Earthy”

Great food; local; natural. A very cool place! Specialize in Flatbreads (pizza), but very interesting combos. Great date spot, but check the days they are open. Its also a bit out of the way.

“5 star food, 3 star service”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

5 stars for the food, 3 for the front-of-house service.

We'd heard that this restaurant in a small out-of-the-way town was a destination, and we heard right. Everything we had was amazing. We started with a delicious (and huge) grilled chicory salad with chanterelles. We wanted to try two of the nightly special pizzas, but they only came in larges and there was just 2 of us. But our waitress said we could get a half-and-half pizza, so we had a combo of the two. They were amazing, and we ate every last bite. We also had a lovely bottle of Ampelos Syrache, a Grenache/Syrah blend. Though we were quite full we also had a tasty flan.

The front-of-house service could use improvements, though. They don't take reservations, so we went early. At 5:30 we were told that the wait was 90 minutes. (A group of 12 had to wait 2 1/2 hours for a table.) No problem. I asked if they could call my cell when our table was ready but they won't do that. Instead I called them at 6:30 to see where we stood and was told it would be another 30 minutes. First disappointment: We went there after 15 minutes and were told they'd given away our table since we weren't there when they called. We waited another 20 minutes. That was fine. Second disappointment: It took that long to get a bartender's attention and order some wine. Third disappointment: After waiting for a 2-top, they seated us at a communal table next to a child with behavior problems. There were several vacant 2-tops so I asked to be reseated. That worked, but it took a while. Once we were seated at a 2-top, though, the service was friendly and responsive, and the food was wonderful.

Bottom line: go for the food and you won't be disappointed. And if you go late you might not have to wait. The place cleared out after about 8:30. You can also order to go.

“Local Charm and Amazing food”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

Having just move to Santa Ynez - - I kept hearing about these amazing Flatbread pizza's in Los Alamos (jjust up the road). Full of Life is in the small, small town of Los Alamos. We went there on a rainy, cold December night and were welcomed by the warmth of this charming restaurant. The menu features these flatbread pizza's that delight children and adult foodies alike. They also have a daily menu of specials that go beyond pizza. The night we were their the Sunday Supper Special was a Rabbit Lasagna. The bar features only local, yummy wines. We ate at the Bar and enjoyed the vibe of the people coming in and being greeted warmly. It was the best place to arrive at on cold rainy night.

“Delicious and popular”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

We stayed across the street at The Vick and ate one meal here. The place was very busy especially for being a bit early for dinner--about 6 PM. The grilled artichoke stuffed with burrata cheese and wrapped with prosuitto tasted as good as it sounded!!! The pizza/flatbread had a chewy thin wood-fired taste and was about the best I've ever tasted and I count myself as a pizza afficianado, having lived in NYC and New Haven where pizza is supreme. The service was excellent, though the restaurant was a bit noisy. We sat right near the oven and enjoyed the "show" puit on by chefs who used the oven in so many different ways for a variety of dishes.

“Outstanding Unique Food in Los Alimos”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

I've had numerous people recommend that I try Full of Life Flatbread over the past few years. The place is only open on weekends, and is always mobbed, and there is always a wait. Tonight, I finally found out why - amazing food, beautiful preparations, great ingredients, excellent service. A great dining experience from start to finish. Great!
