We stopped here on our way to SF and it was a comparatively cheap place with good value. The room was clean and the owner was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!
As a bonus, it looks exactly like you would expect an american motel to look like. Really cute!

We discovered this motel by accident when we needed a place to stay on our annual drive from San Diego to Cambria. It was adorable! I describe it as a retro Route 66 type motor court where you drive up and park in front of your room. There are pleasant benches/chairs to sit on outside with a fountain and plantings to look at while you unwind from your driving.
We had a king size bed and it was obvious that the bathroom fixtures were brand new! There was also a small fridge and microwave and of course a tv. It is not a fancy place but it was clean and comfortable! We didn't notice any "low income" overtones as mentioned in one of the older reviews. As a matter of fact as we looked at all the cars parked over night we kept noticing new high end vehicles! The folks who own this motel have had it now for about 1 year and I imagine they will be upgrading the rooms slowly. The town surprised us with its offerings and we'll try it again next year. Everywhere we walked we kept saying "How cute is this!!"
BTW I haven't stayed in a motel this inexpensive in a LOOOONG time!!

Needed a one night stay late afternoon. Was lucky to get the last one here. Old motel, but being constantly updated. Some rooms newer, manager invited us to look into an updated room when we were leaving. Ours had old furniture, but a nice firm bed, comfortable and king sized. Small Bath w/shower stall, clean. Had a full kitchen, very dated, but the small fridge came in handy. Maybe one day they'll knock out the kitchen wall and make the rooms bigger, although its not really needed. Great outdoor atmosphere, located in center of town. Pleasant personel, supplied us with extra pillows, and will likely stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: Pre book if possible and ask for newer room. First come first serve basis.

I was passing though town on a Saturday night recently and all the other surrounding Inns were completely booked out. I had stayed at this motel years ago and though a very 'modest' little Country Inn, I did not experience the unpleasant 'low-income' overtone which colored my recent visit! The new Owners are very obliging - but there's only so much you can do - w/ the Economy being down and all. Due to the reasonable rates don't expect much here. The rooms are spartan at best, some badly in need of re-fixturing particularly in the kitchenette bungalows; paints peeling along cupboards, sinks rusted out and unsanitary looking. Rooms surround a little Courtyard-grassy area which is quite nice - peaceful for reading or use of picnic tables. The rock-waterfall is a nice touch as well. My biggest letdown with this place however, is not the setting itself but rather, the 'dicey' crowd the property attracts. The group staying next to our room for instance, were something out of an "I Love Earl" episode - loud, low-rent, and made me want to pull out a harmonica or a jug and join them on the porch for a jam-session. Wild, crazy kids running loose unsupervised all over the place.....etc. etc. You can get the 'visual'. More Trailer-Park than Motel. I don't recommend a stop here - even if the other places in town ARE filled, turn around and head back Southward towards Buellton. Several Econo Motels there - cleaner, safer and far better caliber of patrons overall. Trust me you won't regret the 14 mi. inconvenience!

Room Tip: Choose a room in another Inn....

It was a motorcycle trip with three of us looking for a place in Solvang. No places available and ended up at the Alamo Motel instead. Upon driving up, we were a bit surprised, and the women were shocked. We met with Mr. Patel who I think is the proprieter, and is exceptionally kind. I think he made the trip for us. He even gave us a bottle of wine and asked us over for dinner! Very nice man. If you go, there is a pizza place of the street, with excellent pizza, and a good looking girl with an attitude and a half. But the pizza's good!

The Motel has been brought back to “like” new by new owner Dan Thompson. This is a slice of Americana history that can't be missed. One of the first motels in America the property is built in a u shape. The original motel had a one car garage next to each guest room. These “Motel's” were designed to house the guest & their car. At some point it became obvious that the guests car didn't need to be garaged & the garages were converted to rooms. All except one which Is still in it's original state for all to see. Everything in our room was clean, fresh & operational. The best part was how accessible, friendly & knowledgeable Dan was. The location was great, walking distance to the Union Hotel where we enjoyed a great evening in the “Saloon”. The service was great & we played shuffle board & shot pool.

A friend booked this hotel because it was inexpensive. However, upon entering the motel, we saw immediately, how disguusting this place is. I would have to assume that it's probably used as a "daytime" hotel, for nefarious activities. The room stunk with a chemical (not a cleaning chemical) smell, the carpet was damp and mildewed, the "kitchenette" was a wreck with a non-working stove and a rotted refrigerator that was filled with mold. There were loose wires hanging, a non-working phone, broken furniture and to top things off, when we opened the medicine cabinet, we found no backing. You could look into the adjoining room. Of course, there was nothing to keep an intruder from climbing through.

The place was extremely dangerous, dirty and what's worse, the owners could care less. The woman we spoke with pretended not to speak English and would not refund our money. DON'T STAY HERE!!!
