“Nice place to stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

In town for the TSC charity walk and decided to spend the night and head for the Aquarium the next day.
Had two rooms and with a couple extra grand kids joining us they found us a suite for our extras. The rooms were spacious enough and clean. The pool was nice for the children but needed to be heated this early in the year. The spa was too hot so could have sent some the other way. Regardless the kids had fun. The staff was very friendly which made a great impression. Will make them part of next years plans, hope they heat the pool or these old bones though.

A very clean room at a reasonable price. Large screen TV, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, good lighting. For a three-day stay when I was only sleeping in the room at night, the best value.

This is a very nicely appointed hotel. The king room we had was very spacious, with ample room for working at the desk and free (although unsecured) wi-fi. The room was scrupulously clean, although this property is lacking in some of the "green" amenities of other locations, like a recycling can in the room and lights that turn themselves off via a motion detector. The in-room refrigerator runs very loudly. It would also save energy if we were just provided with an extra blanket instead of the single blanket on the bed and having to turn the heater on; Long Beach is cold at night. Staff were very solicitous, the lobby is clean and large, there is a computer and printer provided for printing out boarding passes, and the breakfast bar has a little something for everyone. It is a VERY convenient location; literally two blocks from the 605 which connects to almost anywhere you'd want to go, about 15 minutes to Belmont Shore, Seal Beach, or the Long Beach airport. That said, it is VERY loud. The walls are so thin and poorly insulated that with the volume fairly low I could hear my neighbor's television well after midnight. People leaving for the airport are up at 5 AM and you can hear everyone's plumbing. The toilets have the superflush mechanism that make it sound like a jet taking off, and you can hear everyone toileting and showering. Sleeping in is not an option here; you cannot avoid waking up at 5 AM. Traffic on Los Alamitos Blvd is heavy 24 hours a day, and it literally sounds like a freeway. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers who tend to be up early anyway, but families with children would probably be better served elsewhere because what can you do with a child who can't sleep? Again, kudos to the staff for making my stay as comfortable as possible anyway.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel may be quieter.

Check in was smooth and friendly. Lots of parking- free. Elevator to our room was great; no lugging up luggage.

We settled into our room which was two queens on the second floor. You could hear EVERYTHING outside your door; every person that walked by, it sounded like they were in your room.

I woke up 6 different times from people coming up the stairs and walking past my room talking, laughing and generally being more than loud.

If you want a good sleep, do not stay here! I had a 5:15am wake up call so I was not impressed. I did call the front desk at 2:45am and asked him to do something about the group directly above me; and it was taken care of quickly.

Nice enough room which was clean and had a fridge and microwave.

Good luck!

Room Tip: Go on the top floor so you don't hear the people above you! There is no insulation to keep out t...

We had a business function at the Anaheim Convention and our original accommodations changed just a few weeks before the show, so we had to scramble to find a place close enough. This was about 10 miles away which worked out ok. The suite was large enough for the five of us, however, the bathroom was really small for a suite. I would have sacrificed some room space for a little larger bathroom. We always stay at Best Westerns when we travel because they are decent and consistent. The breakfast at this location was well below what we usually expect. Poor quality and not well stocked.
My son got a pretty bad cut on his foot from something sharp in the Jacuzzi. It wasn't a foreign object. It was a sharp piece of concrete at the base of the ladder. We told an employee, but he said he wasn't on duty at the time and told us to tell the girl at the front desk. Neither of them seemed too concerned and I left with the feeling that it wasn't going to be fixed in the near future.
