“So-So Mexican food”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

The food used to be very good, but was not as good the last few times we ate at Lorenzo's. I don't know what changed. Their margarita's are wine margaritas as they only have a beer / wine license. We usually choose to go elsewhere now.

“Best Fish Tacos & Margaritas Enroute To/From Lake Tahoe”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

Off highway 80 east on the way to Lake Tahoe and Reno, on Taylor Road in Loomis, CA, is a sleeper of a Mexican restaurant with the best fish tacos and strawberry margaritas I've had since moving to northern Cal from southern Cal 25 years ago.

Lorenzo's Mexican restaurant on Taylor Road is the place to stop for authentic, old world style atmosphere and the best fish tacos and margaritas around. It has been in business for 30 years and the owner and staff is welcoming and very friendly.

I lived in the Loomis area for 3 years before trying this gem of a restaurant. Initially I was put off by the old style run down sort of look of the place, but then one night, after having noticed the parking lot always full at dinner time, I stopped into Lorenzo's and ordered one of my favorite dishes, fish tacos. They were fantastic! The tacos are served in soft corn or flour tortillas. I opted for the corn. The tortillas were warmed and felt and tasted as if they were just made
in the corn mill in the back (there is no corn mill in the back). The fish was a white fish with tons of flavor and the meal came with rice and beans and was one of the best I've ever had. I forgot all about the cobwebs on the ceiling!!!

I ordered a strawberry margarita and was shocked to find it the best and freshest around. Lorenzo's makes everything fresh with authentic spices and flavors. No strawberry mix, just fresh strawberries in the margaritas!

So next time you're on your way home from a Tahoe ski trip or a day on the lake, or a Reno weekend, and you're craving Mexican food and a margarita, pull off the freeway at the Horseshoe Bar road exit in Loomis and head over to Lorenzo's and relax a while with some of the best Mexican food you'll be craving for months to come!

“Generous potions of delicious Mexican food A++”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

My family goes to the Original Lorenzos about three times a year as it is one of our favorites, with ample portions, pleasant servers, and food that is quite good. The only downside is the decor. The seats and tables show a lot of wear and are probably the Original's Original furniture. This is not a big deal by any means since the food and service is so good.
