“Good Airport Hotel”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

If you need to stay near the Long Beach Airport, this is a fine property. Helpful staff, good location adjacent to the airport, excellent access to many restaurants nearby. Only a couple of misses: TV reception is very poor on many stations, shower heads have very little output, the way the doors are situated in the bathroom area are cumbersome to use with more than one occupant of the room. The pillow selection was poor.

Room Tip: While you might think to ask for a room opposite the runway, we didn't find that to be a problem...

Marriotts have a always been my favorite place to stay. The one at long beach is no different. Cordial and efficient staff, clean and fresh interiors, hot and yummy to tummy breakfast; and the location is - just the way one can wish on a holiday- right on waterfront. Start your morning with a great walk along the water front; scrumptious breakfast and then drive down the town; Free parking; End the day with the view to the lighted Queen Mary from the window; All in all yet another great holiday at Marriot

Room Tip: One which has a view to the water front - have a cup of coffee facing the Queen Mary....

I'm a corporate trainer for a fortune 500 company and specialize in facilitating classes about CUSTOMER SERVICE. Wow, other hotels should take note. This hotel is in the Hospitality Business and the staff really know how to do it. I always make it a point to learn the names of the staff every where I visit (hotels, restaurants, etc.). We were picked up by James the shuttle driver within minutes of calling the hotel for a ride. He grabbed our bags, welcomed us and didn't drive like a crazy man to the hotel like some other experiences. Stephanie and Richard (at check in) teamed together to expedite our check in. Since we arrived earlier than expected, our rooms were not ready. With a few strokes of the keyboard, all three of us had rooms and welcomed by large trays/baskets of fresh fruit at the check in desk for all guest to enjoy. Down to the indoor pool and well equipped fitness center , also with a large fruit basket in it. Everyone I passed, from Krystal at the desk, Gustavo of room service and Sika are warm, inviting and friendly. Jarvis the head of security is a menacing, gentle giant. You know he'll have your back if you need him and he always seemed to be around. His security staff make their presence known and where crisply pressed shirts and are very professional. Valley with hospitality took care of our every need and checked in with us multiple times a day to make sure we had everything. Olivia and a number of other staff kept our coffee pots and drink pans full, fresh cookies and other goodies never running out. Lucille and Marcella in the executive lounge fit right in with what we had come to expect. It sure is nice when you expect one experience and the ENTIRE STAFF go over and above. I was talking on my phone in the lobby awaiting the arrival of more peers when I started coughing. I needed water. Rolando at the side bar saw me coming and within seconds I had a glass of water. There are many more that I didn't get their names or can't recall what they are that also showed incredible service. Lillian(?) brought down an item I had left in my room after check out. Now the bad. The beer in the Corrigan's sports bar and the side bar are HIGH priced. $ 6.49 for a 12 oz. beer and I wasn't even at the live sporting event. Lower the drink prices and some of the food prices. (A 10 minute drive and you are at the pier area looking at the Queen Mary and checking out the local eating joints like Parker's Lighthouse which I highly recommend. Make sure you ask for Matt to be your server.) The other restaurant, the Garden Terrace was dead when the 12 of us arrived to eat there the first night. There was probably a total of 25 people in it including our team. The server was great, had a great attitude but the food took a little longer than normal to be prepared. Wasn't his fault for sure. We must have overwhelmed the kitchen with our party but the food arrived together instead of in shifts. The moral of this story? If you expect great service, this hotel will perform. Pto the STAFF...props to you all. Your manager should be proud of you and throw you a nice party and give you a bonus. Congrats.

Nice front desk staff that checked me in quickly and efficiently. The hotel has a very nice lobby area with a café (tea/drinks) is perfect for a meeting with one or a few people. The pool area is ok but no hot tub? I picked up food from the restaurant on site and it was quite good and not overpriced. The parking was free and the location is great. Right off the 405, across the street from the airport, close to LBCC, PCC and Cal State LB. There is a mall about 2 miles up Lakewood and several restaurants, shops, gas and a Target. My room was comfortable with a small chiller/not fridge, no microwave.

Room Tip: Try to find a room away from airport side

when I arrived upon check in there was no one at the front desk, I stood up there for about 10 minute and could hear a lot of employees just chatting in the back.. she finally arrived and wasn't to friendly or apologetic about the wait.. when we got to our room it had a bad stale smell and we had to air out our bedroom for hours.. we are not locals and did not know the're was an airport about 500 feet from our window and planes were landing and taking off all night long.. and the pillows were so Terrible that I woke up with an aching neck from all the pain-. overall it wasn't absolutely terrible but we will not be returning...

Front lobby was very nice and festive. Room clean and looked fresh. Who ever did the remodel in the bathroom tile did a terrible job. Tiles not lined up, messy cauking. Staff was excellent. Food at our event was excellent for a buffet. Free parking great. Only neg. Grill/bar listed 3 different times that it opened. (closed on two of the time listed) Room rates very high for the area.
