My Mom and I stayed at the Residence Inn over the weekend of May 3-5. We had a spacious two-bedroom suite. When we got off the freeway, we were a bit confused as to accessing the hotel despite our smartphone navigation. After going through the Queens Mary parking area we finally arrived at our hotel. The picture on the hotel website seems to be more colorful than the building actually was in person. Still, we entered the well manicured grounds and were promptly greeted by an entirely friendly and professional front desk staff. We were quickly checked in and off to our room. The hallways leading up to the room were a bit dirty but as soon as we opened the door to our suite we were very pleased with our spacious and clean room. The shower was spacious and delightful after a long day of travel. The bed was also most comfortable. Breakfast was the standard Residence Inn fair (muffins, waffles, sausage, breakfast potato, oatmeal, yogurt and cereal). All in all we had an entirely enjoyable stay. The hotel is located on the water but it is on the opposite side of the "Long Beach happenings." So you do have to cross a bridge to get to the shops, restaurants, etc. If I were traveling alone, I would definitely opt for the Westin or Hyatt as those two are in the closest proximity to the entertainment, etc. The Residence Inn area feels like a hotel on it's own island, with a big ship on one side (the Queen Mary) and thousands of cargo containers on the other. Still, if traveling with my family of five to visit family in the area, I have a feeling I will be back.

We recently stayed at this hotel for a night prior to our cruise leaving out of Long Beach. Donte greeted us warmly at reception and gave us a room on one of the upper levels with a view of the water. The hotel itself looks brand new, clean and inviting. Donte was very helpful in providing us with directions on how to take the free city shuttle over to the aquarium, Queen Mary and back. In the morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which had numerous food options and the kitchen staff was friendly and helpful. Checkout was a breeze and Donte arranged a quick cab ride to the port. Overall we had a fabulous stay here and recommend it highly.

We booked this hotel due to it's close proximity to the cruise terminal for a next day cruise. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. Upon checking in, the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a 3rd story suite, and the room was perfect. The king size bed and bedding was comfortable, and the room spotless. It also had a nice sitting area and small fully equipped kitchen. There is a free shuttle that picks you up next to the hotel and takes you to and from the downtown area, including all the local attractions. You can also walk along the jetty from the hotel to the Queen Mary (about 3/4 mile) as well as several resturants.

And the morning breakfast was top notch - hot food (eggs/susage/waffles/oatmeal).

My only complaint would be the $15 per day parking.....and my sister came down to visit and she had to pay the parking as well.

Would highly recommend and will stay here again if we cruise out of Long Beach.

Room Tip: Get a room on the Queen Mary side if possible for the view

Donte made our stay wonderful! There were a few little mishaps, however Donte's customer service was top notch. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was amazing. Definitely would stay there again! Thank you for making our trip pleasant.

The Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown is one of the best properties I have stayed at recently. It's waterfront location, stunning views of downtown, and close proximity to the Queen Mary and other Long Beach attractions exceeded all our expectations. Although we did not have a view of the Queen Mary, we did have a view of the water from our room. The one bedroom suite was spacious, clean, and even though the hotel was full Saturday night, the hotel was suprisingly quiet.

There is a waterfront path from the hotel to the Queen Mary. It is a short, pleasant 10 minute walk. At night the view of downtown Long Beach and the waterfront is AMAZING. The Long Beach passport bus picks up right at the hotel and will take you to all the area attractions at no cost. We found this to be very convenient as we did not have to pay for parking at the Queen Mary or the Aquarium.

One evening, we went to Downtown Disney for a concert. We were concerned about the traffic but found it only took us 30 minutes to get from the hotel to Disney at 5:30 pm on a Friday evening. If you want to be within a reasonable driving distance to Knott's/Disney while experiencing Long Beach, this is the place to stay!

Dante at the front desk provided exceptional customer service and was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make our stay a great one. Dante is a perfect example of what hotel customer service should be. Thank you Dante - YOU ROCK! :-)

My husband and I agreed that this hotel made for one of our best stays in the LA area. I highly recommend this property. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to LA which I am hoping will be very soon!

The worst hotel experience ever. Would be a nice place, but the rude and useless staff have totally ruined it. Thankfully we only had to stay 1 night. During the night we were kept awake all night by other hotel guests running up and down the halls, fighting in the halls and knocking on all the hotel room doors. We called the front desk multiple times to complain. I am certain were not the only ones as many times when we opened the door there were other angry guests. After the 4th call to complain to the front desk, I told them to do something immediatly or my next call would be to the police. Amazingly, things quieted down after that. After a sleepless night we headed down to the breakfast area. First of all, the area is much too small for that size hotel. We encountered a large amount of people leaning up against walls and sitting on the floor. We quickly discovered that there was no food. The staff was not replenishing it at all. As a Marriott Rewards member, we have much higher expectations. They have not even had the curtousy to contact us after we attempted to address the issues with them.

My two children and I arrived on the 5th of April after a 14 hour flight from Melbourne, Australia at about 8:30AM. While we knew our room possibly wouldn't be ready for hours, your front desk staff saw how tired my kids were and found us a room within an hour. We were SOOOOOOO greatful.

We returned on the 14th of April and as we only had a room from 9:00am-8:00pm, your front desk staff only charged us 1/2 daily rate. We were go grateful to have a place to relax during the day before we boarded our flight back to Australia. We were given a room straight away and the staff was friendly, engaging, and fun as we checked in. They chatted with us each time we came down that day.

Not only that, but the front desk staff always greeted us kindly, talked to us with interest, and interacted with us with compassion, curiousity, humour, and a real sense of 'we are glad you are here, how can we help'.

I travel for business A LOT and travel for pleasure a great deal as well. I am often disappointed with indifference, drama, and a 'no help' attitude by hotel staff. It was so refreshing and wonderful to really feel looked after and taken care of.
