I recently coordinated a block of rooms for my family coming into Long Beach for a wedding. I stayed there in addition to the bride and groom, and many other friends and family. We all were very impressed with the hotel. Some of us had suites, others were on the club level, and some had standard rooms. I'm surprised to read some of the negative reviews on here because I could not have been happier. My job has me travelling frequently, and spend over 200 nights a year in a hotel, so I know a good hotel when I see one. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful--whether it was the front desk staff, security, or the business office. My only criticism was that the car valet was a bit slow, but perhaps it was just a busy weekend. Overall i'd strongly recommend this hotel, and this is the first review i've written on tripadvisor.

Room Tip: Know what you want. If you're in town for a night, get a standard room. If you are hosting a par...

Small rooms = tiny beds. For the amount of $ for this room I’m not impressed at all with this hotel. I have had bigger and better decorated rooms at hotels for far less. They offer no continental breakfast or even coffee in the mornings, it’s these little things that count people! The front desk was very helpful and courteous and the lobby was accommodating. Very confused as to why they offer free wifi in the lobby but not in the rooms ($12.95/day), seems kind of stupid to me. The hotel is nicely located within walking distance to many attractions, dining, and entertainment. I would not recommend this hotel due to the price. You can get similar accommodations from a Motel 8 along with free wifi and a little breakfast and coffee for less $$.

Room Tip: The rooms were equivalent to hotels/motels that charge far less.

I chose to stay in this hotel because of its proximity to convention centre. This was also highly rated on trip advisor. However, that's where it ends. On checkin we found TV was not working. Staff took a lot of time to realize that it needed to be replaced. Internet wifi was not gettimng connected, for which they connected us to their call centre and put on hold for over 5 minutes, before a person realized that there is a connection issue with hotel. He was not even sure as to how long will it take for connection to get restored. Calling at front desk often went unanswered. On top of it, when you walk down to reception, you don't find a staff.
I guess, it a good property and location but very poorly managed. What a waste..

Room Tip: look for ocean view room

Overall the hotel is relatively good with a good restaurant which we used for a buffet breakfast which was very tasty with plenty of choice and an omelette bar.

The location is ideal, just a short walk (5min) to the promenade and Long Beach – there is a cycle hire shop just across the street, I would fully recommend hiring a bike and cycling along the path on the beach, great views and very flat.

The staff were very helpful, and room service good, there is also a star bucks attached to the hotel, quite random but this is LA!

The location of the hotel is a long way from Hollywood, so if you want to spend a lot of time in Hollywood this would be too far.

We booked a day trip tour of Hollywood which was great, 8am pick up to around 5.30pm, it cost around $80 each – I would recommend an open top coach/bus, we had a mini bus with a roof and missed a lot of the sun.

LA is Amazing : )

We stayed here for a long weekend while attending a wedding in Long Beach. Overall, we were less than impressed, especially since this is supposed to be one of Marriott's mid-high tier properties.

Pros:
Location is good. Centrally located for Long Beach attractions. Close to freeway and Belmont Shore.

Rooms were mostly quiet. No hallway noise, but definitely some noise from the street and rail line behind hotel (and we were on the top floor)

Cons:
Upon check in, we were told we were getting a suite room. We get to the top floor and discover that we've got a regular room. Not a suite by any measure.

The club lounge (we're Gold Elite members) was drab, dated, and depressing. We haven't had to pay for drinks at other properties, but here you're shelling out $8 for a bad beer. Food offerings were potato chips with salsa (ew! And this is California; you'd think they know how to do chips and salsa) and some sad cheese cubes and crackers. Plus, the club is closed all weekend, aas we discovered when we showed up on Saturday morning before our flight to find the door locked.

Major con: $13 per day for wifi. What century is this that the hotel thinks it should charge for Internet? I'm sure most of the visitors here are business travelers and just expense the wifi, but for guests like us you can be sure we won't be returning to the Renaissance brand anytime soon. It's especially funnyu since the lower tier Mariott properties never charge for wifi. I DO NOT PAY FOR WIFI, EVER.

Parking $16 per day. Seriously? For your Gold Elite members?

Overall, a big disappointment. Won't be back.

This is an older hotel but one centrally located: the waterfront is in front of you and the best restaurants/bars are in back of you. Our first room had its two large windows covered in bird "residue" but the staff quickly moved us to the front-side of the hotel--if you don't book the front-side you miss the water view, the Queen Mary view; the back-side looks out on a rather depressing urban redevelopment grunge. The Executive Club area is a bit dismal: offerings are much more restricted that in other locations, seating is cramped and, like other locations, it is not open most of the weekend. The rooms were large and lovely, with very large counter space in the bathroom. The downstairs bar SIP has a modern flair to it, seemed always busy. The in-house restaurant seemed only to open for breakfast but offered a large buffet. There is some talk of another boutique hotel going up opposite the hotel which would block most of the view of the water and the Queen Mary--hope that never gets off the ground. We had friends in the Hyatt which was more plush: only views of the Queen Mary but then that long walk up the Convention Center hill to get to the city's restaurants: we liked our location better.

Room Tip: Rooms on each floor at either end (e.g. the x02 room at one end) also have balconies. The top two fl...
